Description West End Shelter for Animals is a private, registered, non-profit organization. We are a no-kill pet placement and adoption center located in Ontario, California. We receive no government funding; our revenues come strictly from fees for services, donations, fundraising efforts, and our low-cost vaccination clinic. The shelter was established in 1954 as the local humane society, and in 1994 was converted to the present no-kill alternative facility. Visitors are always welcome!

The staff is friendly. We have been looking at dogs here off and on for years but this is the first time actually adopting from here. We adopted this beautiful girl crystal. She is an 82 lb Newfoundland border Collie mix and such a love bug.

i adopted janice (now shoyu!) from west end shelter yesterday the process was so easy! i came in, saw her, and had her home in the same day :) not to mention the adoption fee being lower than other local shelters (and she was already vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped) she’s super sweet and of course was scared when we brought her home but she instantly became cuddly and friendly in the same night! she is a bit sick currently probably due to living alongside lots of cats before adoption, but she’s playing and cuddling just fine looking forward to watching her grow up alongside me 💌

I went to visit the cats and dogs at this shelter. Great people that work here! I was in cat heaven with all these cute cats in the hallway. They got along great too! It was a pleasure to see this. Well maintained and animals cared for properly.

It's convenient. But they have NEVER answered their phone. So I was forced to go out of my way and drive there just to ask a simple question. And once there, the lady in the front did give me the information I needed with no problem, but I felt sorry for the Asian person ahead of me. English was obviously his 2nd language, and he was struggling a little bit. she was very short with him. She did not even try to hide the fact that she was annoyed with the situation. I understand all jobs have their moments, but this guy was just trying to get his dog taken care of. He wasn't complaining or causing an escalation or anything. Even in past experiences with this place. They have useful services and information. And they have very good prices. But customer service, welcoming atmosphere, enjoying what they do? All that is definitely lacking.

I went for the low-cost vaccines for my pups. The staff was very nice and respectful. Very professional and gentle with everyone's animals. I've brought my other dogs here before and have been really happy with the services provided to my puppies. I recommend them all the time too.
