I recently divorced, moved, and got a new puppy. My former vet of over 10 years informed me I would have to go on a waiting list as a new client and would unlikely to get in when shots were due. The woman was not very nice about it. I was appalled and very angry. Oswego Vet Hospital seemed delighted by my call, got me in right away, and adore Mimsey. I’ve had dogs all of my adult life- and I’m now retired - and never had a dog that would bound into the vet office and try to sneak into the back! They’ve taken such great care of both of us - I’ll never switch again. Thank you OVH!

The first red flag is they have a lot of available appointments and accepting new clients as this has become rare when trying to find a vet. When I made my appointment I had to pay upfront for the visit and was never told I would still be charged if the appointment was missed. I did show up for my appointment and notified them I was there. When I went to get my dog out of my car, he wasn't there! He managed to escape and by the time I luckily found him the vet was closed and had to go to an emergency vet clinic. I called them back to schedule a follow up from the emergency visit and they refused to apply my initial payment, they said they are keeping that money and will charge me again for another visit. There demeneier which originally was nice, turned unsympathetic and cold. Amy was unprofessional and rude. The office manager Jesse reached out to me and she said "it's not our fault".. The office staff sets the tone for the clinic, and because of how they displayed such lack of care, and made the decision that it was more important to keep $90 dollars then invest in a long term new client I no longer felt comfortable bringing my dog there.

My dog and I have had really excellent experiences at Oswego Vet. Drs. Tongue and McLanathan have both taken care of her and have helped her with surgeries and medication. In all of my experiences the doctors and vet techs have treated us both with kindness and conscientiousness, even when one of us was having a panic attack under the seat (your guess as to whether it was me or my dog). This is the place to take your furry family members.

Our 15 y/o cat was terminally ill and had to be put down. I didn’t want his long time Vet/staff who’d developed a relationship with him to have to do it so a friend recommended Oswego Vet. Dr. Naomi and her assistant were so respectful and kind and came to our home to make it less stressful for all of us. The treatment was humane and gentle. A few days later, Dr. Naomi sent a handwritten sympathy card with his (ink) paw prints. And then they sent separate card to say that a tree had been donated in his honor to the Arbor Day foundation. I’m so moved and grateful and can’t say enough good things about this practice. They made a horrible decision more bearable. I’m so pleased that there’s a little tree out there with GIR’s name on it😭🖤

We’re very grateful for the great care and kindness of this vet. It’s hard to even find a vet appointment, but they made time to see our 🐹 next business day. They treated her like the precious being that she was. They were so considerate of us and facilitated a peaceful passage for our littlest friend.

Review on Grooming Services: We have a 9.5 year old 6 lb Yorkie has been receiving vet and grooming care at Oswego Vet for a few years. The vet care has overall been very good, though we had a very upsetting situation occur this weekend with the groomer, Eve. Eve was the only groomer in that day and when we picked up our dog, we learned that Eve cut off over 1/4 inch of the top of his actual ear! I cannot even imagine how traumatic and painful this situation was for our dog. Eve's response to my husband seemed very lackadaisical and she simply stated, "I cut a little of his ear but he didn't cry and it didn't bleed." Of note, there was crusted blood at the top were the ear was cut off. Our dog is the most sweet natured dog on the planet and he never complains about anything so I am not surprised he did not make a sound when he was hurt. Since it was Labor Day weekend, I called first thing on Tuesday morning to explain this very upsetting situation to the receptionist and ask to talk to the manager. While the receptionist was very empathetic, she asked that I send an email expressing my concerns and that she would forward to the Manager. I have not yet received any response from the Manager and would hope that they would have taken my concerns seriously by at least acknowledging that they will look into this situation. The past 2 times we have taken our dog to this groomer, Eve has been alone in the groomer office and seems overwhelmed. I recognize my dog can be squirmy and anxious about grooming but he has been getting groomed for 9.5 years without injury. Managing 6 lbs in one hand should not be all that difficult and going slow and careful with the other hand with scissor would have avoided this horrible situation. I will never return to that groomer and I would recommend that anyone with a dog that is not a statue avoid this groomer especially when Eve is alone.
