Looks like my review was removed, I guess they don’t want people to know! I volunteered/fostered and helped move dozens and dozens of dogs from the Katy shelter over a 3 year span. Recently things started back sliding, there is a reason reputable rescues don’t/wont work with them and I should have listened to those that came before me. Council won’t listen, nobody listens. They think it’s because nobody is fostering -truly it’s because they are difficult. No dog should have to die the way they do here, and yes pets are still disappearing - being euthanized without being listed or being euthanized because an officer has a bad day. They put on a wonderful dog and pony show image to the public. The city and current volunteers protects its image not its pets. Pets were getting help and moving. I was too difficult and wanted more from the shelter than they could handle. Like vaccines and flea prevention lol 😝 The positive reviews are all volunteers, Employees or city council members.
I cannot say enough good things about the people at the Katy Animal Shelter. Due to medical issues, I had a friend that needed to give up ownership of his dog. David and his team were great about trying to find non profits in the area to assist and did everything they could to help find a new home for the dog. They truly care for the animals in their facility and work hard to find them new families. Prior to going into this situation, I had a preconceived idea of what shelters were. However, my experience with everyone there has been the complete opposite of that, and I have the utmost respect for their profession. They are the best group of people who are passionate about the cause they support. Thank you for everything you do!
They have been a great help to me whenever I have called them. They are doing the best they can with the resources that they have. They need to be given more financial resources, personnel resources, and more support from the City of Katy in my opinion! Get them a bigger budget so they don't have to play whack-a-mole trying to keep up with stray animals that are coming out of their ears! Everyone get your pets spayed and neutered, please 🙏 Also don't keep food out for strays to eat. It brings more animals to your yard and more animals that need to be spayed or neutered.
This organization makes you sign a pledge that you will say nothing critical of the facility if you want to volunteer! This organization has been reported multiple times for cruelty and practices retaliation against those who speak out! Go to “No Kill Katy” on Facebook for more information on how they treat innocent animals! Katy is a wealthy community! There is no excuse! Spread the word!
I volunteer and foster dogs at the shelter. I love helping out the dogs and cats. The Supervisors not only take care of the dogs & cats but they also go on service calls to help the COK residents with dangerous animal issues like opossums & snakes. KAC Shelter is always looking for volunteers and fosters. Fostering saves the lives of animals in shelters. PLEASE when you call - listen carefully to the voicemail message to make sure you are a resident of the City of Katy - it’s a smaller section in Katy. Thanks 😊
I called them about a puppy I found in an intersection that almost got ran over several times. I helped it so it wouldn't get killed, the operator on the phone told me what street and I let him know and he told me that that's the city of Houston's problem and to call animal control. He said go put the dog where you found it....I said the intersection he said YES AND CALL THEM. The only help I got is that he connected the call.
