I’ve put this review off for a few days now, with the hope Dr. Wensing would respond to my sincere inquiries. I’ll try to make this brief… I had let’s say “shared custody ” with my 17.5 yo pup, with someone we’ll refer to as “Person A - in CA.” Buddy is my dog and lived with me his first 16 years - he started living with “Person A” 1.5 years ago. I was still paying for his medication and visiting him as much as I can as I live out of state. When the euthanasia appt was scheduled in November, 2023 I reached out to Dr. Wensing, explained who I was and expressed that I only wanted details of what was happening to my pup’s body after death and to let me know once it was done (“Person A” was not communicating with me - she unfortunately suffers from untreated bipolar/personalty disorder). Dr. Wensing required that I sign her paperwork and said she would send me a lock of his hair. Then, “Person A” canceled that appt - needed more time. Fast forward to January, I find out from his Vet in CA, he was marked deceased in Dec. “Person A - CA” never told me (terrible) and I never heard from Dr. Wensing either. Okay - so here we are. No response from Dr. Wensing after several texts and voicemails. I just want closure. I can only hope no one ever experiences this lack of decency during such a hard time. I do know she is receiving my messages, as she has recently responded to an inquiry from someone else. Dr. Wensing’s actions feel unethical. UPDATE: To allow transparency, I’ve included a copy of my text message to Dr. Wensing below. As of today, she has blocked my phone #, the lack of decency is inexcusable. I can only believe she is worried I may file a suit for malpractice. “Hello I received word from Buddy’s vet that he was euthanized in December. Can you confirm if you were the one who handled it and if so, are you able to send me a lock of his hair? Thank you, Amber Hoover” The first photo is the last time I saw him in November - 2023. The others are of some of our many hikes during the 15 years we spent together. Jacob Stansky: (I hope you see this) First of all thank you for posting a response to my review, making me relive the trauma I endured. It easy for you to state the below as you did not have to experience the turmoil I went through along with the lack of communication from Dr. Wensing. I’m glad you had a good experience with her - I did not. I’m not defaming the reputation of Dr. Wensing - I’m just stating facts and my experience. If she’s so easy to communicate with, why don’t you ask her why she never responded to my text messages and then blocked my number? I am very curious to hear what she has to say. “To the 1-star reviewer - no loss is easy but nothing about the situation explained sounds like any of it was Dr. Wensing‘s issue or fault. You should not defame the reputation of a wonderful person and business when your situation is out of that persons control.”
I want to thank Dr. Wensing of Heaven from Home for her assistance and support in saying goodbye to our beloved family cat, Mr. Nuts. On the day Dr. Wensing encountered our family, we were far from our best: we had been through an emotional rollercoaster of emergency vet visits, unexpected diagnoses, and were uncertain of whether we were making the right decision. Dr. Wensing was extremely patient with us, she listened to what had been going on and reassured us that saying goodbye—although difficult—was the best decision for Mr. Nuts. In providing her services, Dr. Wensing was incredibly gentle and compassionate. She recognized Mr. Nuts as an individual, made sure he was comfortable at all times, and treated him with great care and dignity. She clearly describes what she is doing at each step of the process and reassures you that there is no pain or suffering for the animal. Although saying goodbye to a beloved companion is a heart wrenching experience, Mr. Nuts was at home, in his normal environment, and surrounded by his family as he had some favorite treats and then went to sleep peacefully, without pain. Dr. Wensing allows you to take all the time you need before, during, and after the process. As this was a sudden and unexpected development, we lingered but never felt rushed. Dr. Wensing herself is a calming and reassuring presence and is deeply compassionate. She is also extremely responsive. I wish she was available as a regular veterinarian—although she is truly superlative in this unique role and puts everyone at ease during a dark and difficult moment. I strongly recommend Dr. Wensing and Heaven from Home to anyone who is looking for the most peaceful and humane way to say goodbye to a beloved companion.
It was unfortunately time to say goodbye to my 4 year old pup, Ferris yesterday. Going to the vet for his illness became a regular routine during his life. I wanted his last moments to not be in a vet office. No matter how much I could ever try to calm him down, I knew the smells would remind him of where he was, dreading every moment. On top of that, car rides were 99% of the time exclusive to vet appointments, so he would start panicking then. Our time to say goodbye was inevitable to end his suffering, but he deserved those final moments to be as comfortable as possible. I started researching end of life care options and fell across Dr Wensing and a ocean of 5-star reviews with beautiful stories. She was able to accommodate any and every request to make this painful situation as blissful and beautiful as possible. Dr Wensing was gentle, respectful and kind through the entire experience, even taking the time to give some treats to make my dog comfortable with her. She validated our decision, which is helpful to our healing process. Literally an angel on earth. Her ability to create such a positive experience I’ll always be so thankful for. If your pet’s time is unfortunately approaching, know you have more options than the vet office and consider working with Dr Wensing. You can text her to inquire, which was great because even thinking about this had me hysterically sobbing and made it impossible to talk on the phone. Thank you again Dr Wensing!
Dr. Wensing is amazing!! We couldn’t be more thankful she provides this service. Dr. Wensing is a great communicator when setting things up. The process is very easy. When she arrived she was very respectful, sympathetic and patient. She’s there to get a very hard job done and she does it with grace and compassion. She goes at your pace and is not in a rush. She made a very difficult moment that much easier with her demeanor. I’m so glad we didn’t have to put our sick kitty in a crate and go to down the vet where he’d be even more upset. At home was so peaceful and calm. Thank you Dr. Wensing! 🙏 To the 1-star reviewer - no loss is easy but nothing about the situation explained sounds like any of it was Dr. Wensing‘s issue or fault. You should not defame the reputation of a wonderful person and business when your situation is out of that persons control. Dr. Wensing was the bright light in a miserable three weeks and many vet visits.
I can’t even begin to explain how hard this time was for me in November of 2022. A decision no one wants to make let alone experience with their companion. Dr.Wensing was the most empathetic, kind, understanding dr I have come across. She made my fur baby so comfortable and my fears slowly faded as she explained all the details. I can’t thank her enough for making such a hard time for me so peaceful in that moment. She is an angel sent to us all.
Horrible communication. Vanessa only cares about your money. She should not be in this business. Doesn't even respond to a grieving owner from a past euthanization but she'll respond to business inquiries within minutes!! Do yourself a favor and find yourself a doctor that actually cares..
