This shelter has been amazing to work with and they hold concerns for both the animal and adopter/foster parent. They make sure the fit is right for both, and are extremely helpful and supportive. I reached out two weeks ago and was put in a foster to adopt situation which not only made me feel like IF there had been a major concern with the animal (conflicts with cats/kids/etc.) I wouldn’t be “stuck”, which is amazingly the same for the animal. If for whatever reason the animal isn’t finding comfort in their new home they hold consideration for them too. I went through with the adoption after a week, and even still when I have questions or concerns they are there to answer. Matter of fact they ask about my animal too and ask for pictures which I think is lovely! I am so glad I went with Pawportunities over any other shelter and all of their little safeguards make me feel so much better for not only myself but also the animal I have adopted. Thank you guys! For those looking to support but don’t have room to adopt/foster I highly recommend you donate in any way you can. I genuinely love what they do and the ladies I met held so much love and passion from what I noticed. I hope you guys keep up the amazing work you’ve been doing and thank you for changing the lives of both us and our precious pets ❤️

I am a foster volunteer there and I have to say that the animal control in Blue Springs and the rescue staff are all just amazing. If you ever physically go there just be prepared that the rescue does not have its own building but is co-located with Blue Springs Animal Control. They accomplish a whole lot of rescues and adoptions due to the hard work and generosity of many(this includes the folks who donate, and volunteer!)💜 I am including my post about my recent Foster who was adopted on Thursday into a wonderful home!

UPDATE 4/8/24- I HAVE 4 FRIENDS PUT IN APPLICATIONS. THE HAVE NOT GOTTEN A RESPONSE. READ UPDATE: We put in application last year and never got a response. Put in another application, still waiting. Im starting to think they horde the animals for the donations, grants, etc. Update. After submitting this review, I got action. Had to put in another application. I still think there is funny business going on. Why is Pawportunities address listed at Blue Springs animal control? (Go there for contact info). The person I texted with gave excuses. That they are all volunteers, Dr's, etc. Well, I say this. When I make a commitment to do something, I don't make excuses for why I'm not doing what I am committed to doing, I do it. I am not the only 1 to have issues. Pet Smart staff told me that 1 of Pawportunities' cats was sick. IT TOOK PET SMART SEVERAL DAYS FOR THEM TO BE ABLE TO GET HOLD OF ANYBODY FROM PAWPORTUNITIES I will update as necessary. UPDATE: For some unexplained reason(what I said here?) They denied my application. There is some funny business here. Perhaps the State Auditors office & IRS should look into all the so-called volunteers Anyway. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! Poor little kitten has to stay in that metal cage instead of a loving home.

I'm giving three stars only because you finally gave the dog back. I'd still like to know who took it from David in the first place. I'm sad that it took public shaming for you to help David with his dog, who does have a tumor, but is at a very advanced age to be operated on. It's got very little time left either way, and needs to be with it's elderly owner. Help and compassion would have been so much better than locking the dog up and letting charges build up. I'm sure you waived them, but look how you handled it!

Quick and friendly. We were able to meet and bring our new baby home within the day!

This place could care less about helping animals who need it. That was clear today when I needed help with a cat I'd found on the side of the road in 90 degree weather who was clearly not doing okay. Edit: Your staffing needs to learn how to best advise people when animals in critical condition are brought to you by a samaritan of the community. The fact no empathy was given in this time DOES show your lack of care and concern for this animal and a human being needing guidance for an animal on the brink of death. Legalities doesn't trump ethics, regardless. Your response did nothing to change my opinion of your rescue.
