Description "Rescue/ Shelter/ Adoption of companion animals. Low cost veterinary services including spay/neuter, vaccination and general health."
I rescued a kitten from them 8 years ago. She has special needs and they called my vet to make sure she’d go to a home who could take care of her needs properly. Their vet services were great too. So kind.
This is Marvin we adopted him from the Westmoreland County Humane Society for a very reasonable cost. Everything was done neuter worming microchip shots & Marvin is very much loved hes such a sweet baby. Thanks to whoever rescued & fostered him because hes a wonderful addition to our family. He is also a polydactl cat he has extra toes like human thumbs.
This place might as well just close down since they don't seem to do anything for anybody, all of the reviews from recently have the same issue I do for the most part, literally no way to get in contact with absolutely anybody. Literally missed a call by 3 minutes and when I call back I have to leave a voicemail and start all over again! Been playing phone tag with somebody for about a week now, how can you run an operation at all if you don't have one person that can answer the phone at all during a normal business hour? I guess we all have to sit by our phones and just wait and stare at it and hope they call us so we can immediately answer it. The third voicemail I got was also kind of snarky, mentioning how loud just have to call back and be put at the bottom of the queue with my voicemail all over again. Well how about I don't know, do your job and answer the phone and not send every single call to voicemail? There's an idea. I get it volunteer groups have a hard time but I can call anywhere else that's a volunteer group and they answer the phone. Or, if you're going to make a spay clinic, why don't you make it accessible online to schedule appointments rather than only through the phone, to a place that doesn't even answer. Seriously it's 2024 what are we even doing.
Went to go look at dogs to possibly adopt. They used to be walk in and look around if you were interested in one they would let it out of it cage to play with and to see if it was a good match before any application. Now you have to have a appointment to see a animal. They don't have much staff there from what I saw. I would rather meet and see the animals and not have to shop online to look at one. The appointment I understand if you wanted to add the specific one. I go by personality towards me not towards what others say about the dog. I wish they would stop being stiff and let people go in and see the dogs. What is there to hide? They are also supposed to have a volunteer program. I asked about it and I was told they don't have it anymore right now because each time they try it falls through and just doesn't happen
I love the Humane Society in Greensburg, PA. I have cats that I have had there for rabies shots, surgeries for spaying four cats and neutering my one and only male cat with no problems at such reasonable charges. I respect their commitment to the care of the animals on-site awaiting adoption or coming in for an appointment for other reasons.
This is the best place, I adopted my doggo here and she's been the most perfect baby I could ever imagine. She was a puppy, she's now 12! I also support their wonderful family fund raising event each Halloween "the whisker walk" at twin lakes park.
