Very nice wildlife center with air conditioned gift shop and small critter visiting center. Nice walking trail through nature to enjoy different species that are and are not native to the area. Nice signs to give facts about the animals. Boardwalks are very well kept. The enclosures seemed very nice and the animals appeared well cared for. Something I always appreciate!
Oatland Island has beautiful scenery and vegetation out on their trails. It’s great exercise and you get to see all sorts of animals out there. The staff are all very friendly and nice and you are provided with maps to help you mark a path of where you want to go and what you want to see. I would highly recommend going out there and seeing it for yourself! (Bring water and bug spray)
This was so great! My family of 4 (including 7 & 9) enjoyed the trails and seeing all the animals. The trails are beautiful. Everything was SO CLEAN and kept up. All the animals had wonderful exhibits and seemed so happy!
This is a really nice place to take a stroll. The habitats and trails were all very well maintained. The welcome center was large and the staff were nice and knowledgeable. The day we went it was quite chilly, the only thing we didn’t get a glimpse of was the alligators. For only $5 there is a lot to see.
If you have toddlers, you have to go to Toddler Tuesday at either 10 or 11! Ms. Seashell leads the class featuring the animal of the week with a song, book, and activity. We live locally and have gone every week for over a year. We have learned so much from her and she is so personable to every child!! I also bring sunscreen and bug spray just in case. Wear comfortable tennis shoes and a stroller for kids because total it’s a 2 mile trail. I can’t recommend this place enough!! It’s my favorite place to go with my toddler and the nature is so beautiful too.
I'm a zoo znob. The best ever for me has been the Houston Zoo. This facility is an outdoor wildlife education center. The building was beautifully built in 1926. It is kept in decent shape and is where classrooms are for Savannah. Elementary students can come for day trips for wildlife learning experiences. Plenty of parking and very nice walking trails. Allow enough to lounge around and go for walks to the different exhibits. Very nice visit
