This place is awesome. We found an injured owl in our front yard. She had a broken wing. We brought her in and they checked out her injuries. They will try to rehab her and when she is ready to be released they will bring her back to our farm for that release. They are funded by donations and do really good work. It is a great lace to donate to or volunteer with.
I spent 3 days nursing a 4 week old baby squirrel from the brink of death after he was found in the driveway on a 100f+ day, his sibling already perished next to him. He was a fighter and managed to recover surprisingly well. We aptly named him Rocky. I thought i was doing the right thing by bringing him here, excited for the life ahead of him. They waited till after i filled out the paperwork, handed him over, and they took him into the back to tell me that depending on the species of squirrel, they were going to have to euthanize him, and that it was the right and humane thing to do. Murdering an innocent baby is not humane. Humans are the real invasive species, causing more damage to habitats and the earth than any other creature alive. They came back and told me he was the species they referred to. He was not injured or sick anymore, he was healthy and was going to open his eyes any day now. Only because of his species, nothing more. I asked for him back and they refused, saying i have no licensing or training to rehabilitate him myself. I am working on my bachelors in wildlife conservation, but if this is what they mean by conserving nature, i don't want to do this anymore. Rocky fought too hard to live to go out like that.
Friendly, caring staff. Transparent about what could occur before we even arrived. Took in an injured squirrel for us. A nice nature walk on site. Thanks.
Nicely maintained hiking trails - a great place for anyone capable of negotiating moderate climbs, steps, and single track dirt paths. No dogs allowed because it's a natural habitat and because in several areas there are boardwalks and stream-crossing bridges with spacing like railroad ties. Beautiful habitat to view native wildlife and vegetation.
We brought an injured violet 💜 green 💚swallow. 🐦He was unable to fly. We found him where I work. I had to keep him overnight and was given wonderful advise to keep him safe until my husband and I could bring him in. The volunteer was warm and caring.😻😽
Wonderful place. They took a injured crow in. Friendly people there. Highly recommend visiting the raven he says hello. The vulture beautiful. Lucky me that day were feeding him a treat.
