Ten years ago, we visited Animal Aid in hopes of adopting a cat. I was apprehensive because I wasn't really a cat person. My wife was and so I agreed to adopt a cat. Almost every cat bit me, except for Hightops. Little did we know, but Hightops spent over a year in and out of some shelters and at 8 years old, faced not being adopted. We adopted Hightops and at first he was shy, scared, and afraid of a lot. After we gained his trust his subtle personality began to shine. We enjoyed a solid ten years with Hightops. Sadly, we had to say goodbye to him recently. He will be remembered. I originally wanted a kitten, but this little guy quickly changed my mind. We'll miss you buddy!
Animal aid is one of the most special places there is!! I have been a volunteer for about 1.5 years and am sadly moving out of state. I have loved coming in every other week to spend time and play with all the cats (basically free therapy). Being able to just sit with an animal and understand just how amazing they are is a gift that can be hard to come by. The staff and each volunteer really make a huge impact the community and do work that is so important/special, something I will always cherish. Thank you!!
Recently adopted a cat through Animal Aid and was very happy with the response times, knowledgeable & kind staff, and overall process of adoption. You can tell they care deeply for each animal in their care and ensures they are matched to the right home. We got the sweetest kitty ever and her transition home with us was made that much easier with Animal Aid.
Just adopted Ringo and Billie. Although the application took a couple steps to finish up, I appreciate how much the shelter genuinely cares about these little furballs. Joe was very helpful every step along the way, and did a great job at explaining expectations (e.g. indoor-only homes for safety, regular vet visits, etc).
As a local veterinarian I love working with Animal Aid. They take wonder care of all the animals that come into their care. They are a wonderful rescue and I applaud the work that they are doing for our community.
I couldn't be more happy with my experience at Animal Aid PDX. It is very clear that they care deeply about all of the animals that come through their doors, and they make sure each one is placed in the best possible home. I adopted two kittens from them. Both were spayed, microchipped, potty trained, and fully vaccinated, plus they gave me some toys, litter, and food to get started. The whole experience was fantastic. If you don't use their services, at least consider donating!
