Very nice facility. Staff personnel are friendly and well organized. We found a great looking pet and pleased with her personality.
The people are very nice and caring of the animals. Lots of dogs of all sizes, ages, and Kitty cats too, ready to go home with YOU! So sad to see them in the cages waiting and waiting! Anyway I Adopted Tails, a cute little Chihuahua few days before Valentine's Day. His name is Teddy now. So happy I did! he was so shy at first but now he comes up and gives me kisses every morning when I wake up and always wants to know where I am and stay by my side! 🥰
Very nice and clean shelter. Animals are all very well taken care of and the personnel is friendly and knowledgeable. They have mostly cat, dogs and bunnies up for adoption. You can get your dog license here too, it's a quick process overall.
HAS is amazing! The work they do for our community; their TNR (trap, neuter and release) program; foster program; adoption rates, as well as community education programs have cut the rate of unwanted animal in the Hayward area Hugely. It is never-ending and I am honored to do my small part. These are just a few neonatal kittens saved by this shelter through their foster program, of which I proudly am a part of. This is just a small glimpse at the kittens I have had a hand in saving. All now have loving forever homes. If you have adopted here, or at a bay area rescue, you might just see your fur baby here! 🥰 #Supportyourlocalshelter #Smallyetmighty #Communityinaction #Volunteersinaction
If I could give this place zero stars, I would. On October of 2023, I adopted a senior cat who they told me she was 100% healthy & had no diseases when they handed me to her the same day I went in. A week later we decided to take her to the vet for check up and her results came back with stage two kidney failure, and everyone was telling me that they were concerned the shelter did not pick up on this at all. The third time we took her to the vet was because she was having rapid breathing and she was diagnosed with heart failure, and now doesn’t have much time to live :( When the Hayward animal shelter gave us her paperwork, one of her descriptions said that she was “breathing hard” in a stressful situation which should have been a clear sign that something was wrong, because for cats to breathe heavy is not normal what so ever, they should know this.
A very well kept Animal Shelter. Staffs are friendly & helpful. They treat the animals well. If you want a animal, please go visit & adopt 1 or 2.
