I absolutely love this place, I got to meet these sweet angels!!! I encourage every dog lover and anyone who wants to support Our Veterans to come volunteer a little of your time or Donate for a good cause.
Great people who do wonderful things . I stayed with my sister in the house, it was super nice. I met Bonnie, and she was delightful and treated my sister and her dog McDermot great . I appreciate all the hard work they do for the veterns
I was just placed with my dog, Chopper, and I cannot say enough good things about the organization. To qualify you will have to do the leg-work, you will have to be patient, and you will have to trust that they reach out to those most in need first, and then you are family once you are placed. The facility is amazing, the training is super professional, they are amazing people.
I have volunteered with Patriot Paws for a little over 2 years and the organization does train great dogs for veterans, but the way that veterans are treated recently is completely inappropriate. The leadership, mainly Lori, never listens to the advise of the veteran coordinator, Aaron, who is the voice of the clients they service. Before you donate you should look into other nonprofits like American Vet Dogs or Hope For The Warriors. Patriot Paws is one bad choice away from becoming the next Wounded Warrior Project. I truly believe though that if the board of directors want to save the company they will intervene and step up and look into limiting the amount of dictatorship that Lori is aloud to have over the company and remind her that she is just a custodian of donors money and that donors own the company not her.
I can't speak highly enough about this organization. I recieved a service dog from them almost four years ago now. They help us veterans any why they can. Dixie past away last week and they put me up in their Veterans house to get me away and keep me busy through this difficult time. Again Patriot Paws is by far the best non-profit orginization aimed at helping vets that I know of, filled with compassionate people. The on guy that gave one star either didn't need a service dog or they may have feared for the animals safety.
I am a wounded Veteran, 100% permanent and total from wounds received in combat. I had a little bit of anxiety walking into the Patriot Paws facility for the first time. I wasn't sure what to expect. Lori greeted me and gave me a big hug, but not just any hug, she really cared. There was a lot of emotion to it. I felt very welcome walking in there. The rest of the staff is equally as nice and loving. It was like being reunited with family. During training anytime I started to not feel well or have pain I was immediately offered whatever they could get me to make me feel more comfortable, most of the time that was a dog :) The training was organized, delivered by example, auditorily and with hands-on experience. We were given a training guide as well to follow along and reference in the future. A+ on execution of training. I can't say enough about my dog Kiera. She has been an amazing addition to the family. She cares for me and her focus on me constantly gets comments in public about her amazing amount of discipline. She has also been able to detect my heart arrhythmia and has woken me up out of a sleep, which is when most of them occur. On the times that she alerted on me I have gone to the hospital and the arrhythmias were confirmed, which can be deadly. I can't say enough about Patriot Paws Service Dogs and their founder Lori. She put everything on the line to found such a wonderful non-profit organization that serves Veterans. I love you guys and I hope to see you all in the near future.
