My 10 and a 1/2-year-old Boston terrier had a bladder stone removal surgery at DPC veterinarian in Davie by Doctor Loduca. I was informed after the surgery that the surgery was extremely intense and that her bladder had to be worked on twice during that surgery. Meaning that? After completing the surgery, the first time they found that there was hematomas and stones still inside the bladder, so they had to re-enter the bladder. Turn it inside out, scrape a clean and complete the surgery. I was told that I need to find a recovery center for her and they recommend . Saint Francis, where Doctor loduca Is the nighttime surgeon and physician? I was skeptical about going to saint Francis.I've been going to Doctor Stone at Pasadena lakes for over 35 years. I was Happy that the facility was close by the house. It wasVery clean, very quiet. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Even though I wasn't, I was nervous and concerned about my dog. The staff reassured me that everything would be OK.after talking to doctor Loduca, I was informed that she would have to stay there for 5 days. When it was time to pick her up? I was extremely happy on how well that my dog was able to move. After such an extensive surgery and recovery and the prices were extremely fair especially. Since neighboring veterinarians are now almost all corporate veterinarians. Saint Francis is a old school veterinarian hospital that there aren't many in South Florida like I really appreciate their staff and their doctors. Job well done from saint francis Hospital
Unfortunately I had 2 medical emergencies within 2 months and as an experienced dog owner, I have to say how amazed I was about how honest and caring this emergency hospital is. I probably visited in the last 20 years at least 30-40 veterinarians in Miami-Dade and Broward county and I can tell you stories about some veterinarians and their techniques which would make you cry. But this post is now about St Francis. My first experience was when I noticed a Friday evening that my 4 year old dog was very weak and had white gums. I went to St Francis and I was helped immediately and respectfully. They took my dog even in, before I was able to fill out all the paperwork. That is rare, all other vets in the past left me with my dying pet until they made sure I filled out the paperwork and they knew who to bill. Others didn't care how urgent my visit was, the payment was more important. Not here! Unfortunately we weren't able to find out how my dog got so anemic in such a short time and I saw by the minute how the life slipped through his body. Realistically I knew how bad it was and the vet told me very honest, that even with a blood transfusion a survival rate would be extremely low. I decided to take him home and in less than an hour he passed at home in our loving arms. Another vet wouldn't have been so honest and would have taken the advantage to drain me for at least $5-7k even they also would have known, there wouldn't be a chance for survival. This honestly is very hard to find in veterinarians nowadays! I got a new puppy and to my bad luck, the neighbors dog got to him and bit off a part of my puppies toe. I speeded back to St. Francis. By me running inside, the lady at the front desk saw how urgent my visit was, let me skip the line and without even filling out the paperwork they stopped the bleeding immediately and I had time to fill everything out and pay my deposit, knowing my puppy doesn't loose any more blood. This animal hospital cares for the well being of our pets. Another vet would have first made you sign an estimate before they even would take vitals, ridiculous. They had to amputate her little toe. In this disaster, I had a vacation planned and had to leave the country 2 days later and a daily bandage change would have been a too big responsibility for my pet nanny. St Francis was so nice to give me the option to keep her there for 2 weeks and I was able to pick her up after my vacation almost fully healed. In the time I was gone, they took even their time to stay in touch with me by email regarding her recovery and also talked with my pet nanny (!) on the phone with updates. Amazing! It is almost impossible to find such a caring and honest veterinarian nowadays and I already referred them many times to others on the Ring app or nextdoor app, if people asked for trusted emergency vets in our neighborhood. Some people here on these 1 star reviews have to understand, a veterinarian is not a magician or god. Some pets are impossible to safe, like my dog I first mentioned in this post, bless his little heart. I am still mourning. But you have to be realistic. You should appreciate the honesty, even if that's not something you want to hear or if it sounds to you "rude". The truth can hurt if you are about to loose a fur-baby. I know. But it's better to hear the painful truth from an honest vet, than a vet which sees dollar signs in your tears and promises you false hope so they have the chance to milk you in the last hours of your pets life! As a person which works with dogs for living and is experienced in the medical field as well, I give 10 stars to St. Francis! There is no better option for emergencies than St. Francis.
It is so easy to give a bad review when your pet ends up dying at the clinic. But as a dedicated 24/7 emergency hospital, the statistical chances of patients dying is much higher than your neighborhood vet that does routing checks and vaccinations 80% of the time. People give 5 stars to those places easily, but guess what? When your pet needs urgent attention to save their lives, your regular vet won't be there for you. They might accept emergency appointments, but most won't accept hospitalizations because they don't have 24/7 personnel and the facilities for that. Who is going to be there for your pet? St. Francis hospital will. We should be ashamed of calling ourselves animal lovers and the number of 24/7 animal hospitals in a 25-mile radius of Hollywood, with people willing to be working in the middle of the night, is probably only one, St. Francis. For this true commitment to save the lives of our beloved pets, I give St. Francis an extra star. And for their commitment to have fair, if not, some of the lowest prices, I give them another extra star. And I will take off stars from other hospitals for not having these commitments. I took my old beagle a week ago after discovering him vomiting a peeing a lot in the middle of the night. He was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, late stage. His brother had died of acute kidney disease 4 years earlier, so I knew this might be the way he goes, but nonetheless I had to give him a chance to see if he would recover and I had him hospitalized on IV fluid treatment for 3 days. This is not cheap, but I know how much other clinics have charged me 4 years ago for his brother, and St. Francis was not greedy in their prices. His blood indicators didn't lower as much as we hoped. He was discharged and he got 3 good days, and then he started vomiting his food, undigested, and rejected further food. At this stage, it is pointless, you can't give him medicine if he won't eat, and he started getting weaker. His body was shutting down. So, this morning I took him back for his last vet visit and last day in this world, and it was painful for me, but not for my dog, and it was quick, and St. Francis personnel was kind and the price was again, not greedy at all. We must understand that the service that St. Francis provides is unique, and it takes a lot of sacrifice to maintain a 24/7 emergency hospital for animals. It is a disservice to all animal owners to penalize St. Francis unfairly just because you had an emotional day, because we need more hospitals like this, that will be there for us, in the middle of the night, in the moment we need it most. Thanks for your commitment to save our pet's lives.
This past weekend I had to bring my dog Ryder here as he was constantly throwing up and not able to hold anything down I went to st Francis emergency as a reference from a friend who has used them before and I want everybody to know that they are amazing all the staff is caring no matter what time day or night the doctors tried every option before they considered having to possibly do surgery pricing was fair and affordable compared to many others I will definitely be recommending and coming back anytime my babies may have an emergency again thank you to all the staff at st Francis 🩷🩷🩷
I recently took my puppy to the veterinarian for constipation symptoms. However, I was extremely disappointed with the level of care we received. The doctor and staff had unfriendly and unprofessional attitudes, which made me feel uncomfortable. Even worse, the doctor did not even introduce himself before examining my dog. He simply walked into the room and proceeded to tell me that my dog was unable to urinate because "his tail was down when he squatted." The only solution he offered was to insert a catheter. I was shocked when they took my playful puppy away for the procedure without running any tests. I could hear him crying in pain from the back room. The assistant even questioned why the doctor didn't sedate the dog. When they finally brought my injured dog back to the room, I was horrified. He had two catheters, one of which was broken and bent, and the other was not appropriate for an eight-week-old puppy. Both were covered in blood and blood clots. My poor puppy could barely move after that. The doctor then recommended surgery and told me that my puppy might not survive. I noticed that he seemed confused and disoriented, and he even left the room without finishing the exam. I demanded to take my dog with me, and the doctor became upset. I immediately took my puppy to another veterinarian who ran several tests and discovered that the catheter had been inserted incorrectly, causing severe injuries that were beyond repair. My puppy died because of the veterinarian's negligence. If you care about your pets, do not take them to this clinic. I regret ever stepping foot in that place. My puppy would still be alive if I had taken him elsewhere.
In a state of panic — while out of the country — I received a call that my dog was bitten and severely injured. Family brought my dog to St Francis after originally going to another hospital. Not only did they take good care of my dog and performed emergency procedures, but they had reasonable prices and I spoke to a doctor/nurse for daily updates. My dog was over 2 weeks in their care plus went for weekly bandage changes post surgery. I felt confident in Dr. Ridge, Dr. LoDuca, and staff while taking care of my little 8 y/o pup. The result: a fully recovered, healed, and healthy dog. Forever thankful and Thank You for Your Service, Dr Ridge 🇺🇸
