We had the most amazing experience adopting our new pup from Saving Grace Rescue in NC. It’s located behind a strip mall, an Eden for rescue animals. The dogs are allowed to roam freely outside where they play and socialize safely with each other and with people who visit looking for their new pet. The staff obviously love the animals there. A counselor assisted us in choosing the right dog. By allowing us to meet several dogs at once, we were able to see some of their personalities. My son fell in love with a little shepherd mix; once we spent time with her, my husband and I agreed that she was the one! Saving Grace NC Rescue made sure she was healthy when they released her to us. I love how well she is socialized and how well mannered she is turning out to be. The adoption fee is reasonable. They also have a store 2 miles away that gives 100% of the profits back to the rescue. I 100% recommend going here to find your new pup.
After volunteering for many months I found an awesome dog at SavingGrace to call my own! I did many weekend fosters and volunteered three days per week administering meds to large and small dogs. There is a great need @SG, for many hands make light work! Molly and her volunteers love the extra help! After leaving the area and looking at other rescue facilities, I see what great work Molly is doing at SavingGrace. She is able to re-home hundreds if not thousands of dogs per year! The dog I rescued is my best buddy even though he is a work in progress and has had his issues, our family loves him dearly and he has turned out to be a really great dog.! My kids always joke that he is feral, he is a perfectly behaved boy now and very social even though he looks like a lunatic
I wanted this to be a good experience but this lead to the most stressful experience it could have possibly been. I adopted a dog a little over a year ago who was fostered out with a family before I adopted him. They claimed he was housebroken and great with cats. It turns out he had no concept of potty training whatsoever and is aggressive towards cats. For a year I have been working with my dog on his behavior. I am in a grad program for behavior analysis and have exhausted every resource trying to help my dog get better. While he has improved greatly, I don’t think he’ll ever get over his aggression towards cats and really needed to be adopted to a family without this issue. This is something that could have easily been prevented. When I contacted saving grace, they did nothing at all to help. They really need to do a better job of making sure their foster volunteers are truthful and supporting families when they facilitated a terrible match. While I will ensure nothing bad ever happens to my dog, saving grace provides way less support for situations like these than adopting through the SPCA (which has previously been wonderful in my experience). I understand adopting over shopping comes with risk and that you sign waivers when adopting that not everything can be known about a dog, but this shelter has put my household at physical risk with no help being offered after the fact. Just proceed with caution as it seems they take on more than they can handle and offloaded a good dog with deep issues without any care.
Very organized staff and facilities. I would adopt again from there. We adopted a lab mix puppy "Stollen" now named "Roxie". She's a great dog.
Five years ago we adopted Roxane (white and black) from Saving Grace. The experience was great- we worked with an adoption counselor who talked to us about our dog already in the house and then helped with the introduction of the two dogs. We adopted Roxane. Last year when it was time to find a new member of our family we quickly decided on Saving Grace again. We chose Henry (black). Henry’s adoption was a bit different because he was Heartworm +. Saving Grace is one of the rescues which will do the HW treatments. We cannot thank Saving Grace enough for the experiences we have had with them. And for all that they have given our family.
LOVE Saving Grace! I would recommend them as a first stop for folks looking to adopt. We had followed them on Facebook for over a year while we decided that we were finally ready to adopt again, and also met them and some of their dogs at a couple adoption events. So we knew how much they cared for their pups. But we weren't prepared for the farm. What an operation! We got to meet a couple dogs and have one on one time with them in the designated area, and just fell for our little girl. She wasn't ready to go home when we adopted because Saving Grace has a 10-day observation period for all pups to go through. They want to make sure they send a healthy dog home to adopters. While it was really difficult for us to wait it out, I really appreciate that policy. Beti (formally named Precocious) is home with her forever family now. Thanks Saving Grace, for a wonderful experience.
