🌟🌟 Huge thanks to the SF Animal Center! My cat's ear hematoma surgery was a success. They were so caring throughout everything. My cat had ear hematoma surgery at the SF Animal Center and it went great! 👍 Just know, some swelling is normal during recovery. SF Animal Unfortunately in its follow-up a person from the front desk is a person with a very bad attitude. It made us feel quite uncomfortable and his music was more important than my pet.
This is a long overdue post - I wouldn’t trust the care of our three furry companions with anyone else but the care team at SF AMC! Dr. Bar is our cats’ primary doctor and her expertise and strong instincts saved our sweet 12 year old cat from a sudden sepsis infection and subsequent small cell lymphoma diagnosis. Dr. Wong, Dr, Maretzki and the entire emergency team played critical roles in saving her too, and Dr. Chu has also provided great urgent care. All of the vet techs provide so much love and care to our animals. Needless to say, I have so much faith in the quality of care my pets receive here, and I find that the customer service and way I am treated as an owner is far superior to when the SPCA owned this facility.
When we got our puppy Boomer 14 years ago, Dr. Gervais performed her first puppy exam. 14 years later Dr. Gervais just performed Boomer’s senior wellness exam. Year in and year out, Dr. Gervais has always been there for Boomer; from simple wellness exams to a surgery to remove a suspicious lump. She never forgets Boomer’s name even if a year goes by. SFAMC must be a wonderful veterinary hospital to keep such an incredible doctor for all these years.
My 8 year old dog had never needed an emergency appointment before last week. We brought him to SFAMC and it was the best decision ever. I was terrified of losing Milo and he had to stay in the hospital for two nights. The staff is made up of the most communicative, caring and helpful individuals you could ever ask to care for your family. Milo has a long medical journey ahead of him and it feels so reassuring to know Doctor Ybarra, AnnaLisa and the entire staff are by my side. Thank You!
10/10 would recommend for any anxious pets that need medical care. Dr. Gilbert, Dr. MacFarland, and their supporting teams have made a world of difference for my anxious rescue dog. I used to see a different vet that wound my dog up a lot (no longer there) and the difference is night and day. They ignore her when they enter the exam room, check in about the best approach, and go slow with her. Brilliant, kind, and thoughtful care. It’s not the most convenient for us, but it is the best experience and we’re happy to make the little trek for it.
While the internal medicine department provided life saving care for my Maltese in 2023 with thorough follow up care, a recent 6 1/2 hour visit to the ER sent me home with no conclusive answers for my dogs condition after numerous tests and imaging, sending me home with medications for pain. My dogs situation was so dire I considered euthanasia which was a decision that I did not take lightly. After an emotional night of saying goodbye, I decided to give my beloved Bolt one last chance because there was still a slight light in his eyes. A 15 minute visit to his primary revealed that he was not in pain but suffering from fluid in his lungs. That diagnosis saved Bolt's life. A relatively inexpensive imaging of his lungs with immediate treatment turned everything around. I'm disappointed that the ER totally missed the mark after performing costly testing with no answers and sent us home hopeless. While our first visit to SFAMC saved Bolt's life, the last visit could have ended it had I not second guessed my decision to euthanize. While still on the mend luckily we found light in a very dark time.
