Some staff are friendlier than others. No guest parking. Animals that are on display but not yet available for adoption. Liked a cat that wasn't quite ready yet, asked if they could call me when available. The first staff member said yes, second said we don't do that, you just have to keep checking. Sorry, I thought the idea was to find loving homes for the animals. The policies here make that more difficult. I ended up adopting a great cat at the SPCA instead.

I was taken into SF County Jail (850 Bryant) because of a warrant for failure to appear at court. They were just going to site me out, but that usually takes the whole night. So my 2 dogs were going to have to get picked up by SF Animal Care and Control. I was very unhappy about this because my previous experience with ACAC was very disappointing and devastating. In the past I had contacted ACAC for help because my 2 year old German Shepherd got hurt by getting hit by a taxi and needed medical attention… ACAC ended up taking my dog and would not release him to me until I had the surgery already scheduled.. it was going to take me a few days to make the funds for the surgery, but long story short they were never intending to return my baby to me. They ended up lying to me multiple times and wouldn’t let me say goodbye or even tell me where he was. And that dog was my baby (I don’t have kids so he was for real my baby) and I have had him since he was only 2 months old. And I never seen him again! Even though I had made the money for the surgery and kept in contact with them the whole time.. so foul and disrespectful. I was devastated!! So understandably I was mortified by the thought of my dogs being taken by them, if even just for the night. But this time my experience was as good as it could be. They took good care of my babies, and made sure that they were close to each other, and even updated them on their vaccinations and shots. And they even waived the fees for me due to my low income status. I very much so appreciate their kindness and reassurance that my babies would be alright and be waiting for me when I got released! And they were! Thank you SFACAC! For re establishing my trust in your facility.

These people are literally the devil they are Satan himself and they have an agenda and they see to it no matter what that it's carried out and that's is no matter what they Will spay or neuter your Pitbull even if you meet their criteria for the exemptions which I did My dog is UKC I emailed them his papers and entered him in a UKC show and I wrote a letter the UKC that I planned on showing him and they denied it because they said he wasn't previously in a show prior to them taking him in after he was shot. Well of course he wasn't previously entered in a show, I didn't know about the exemption nor did I know about that I had to have him fixed, my service animal was shot by gunman that shot three people early in September and sfacac had to take him in to see the their vet. They said they were going to take ownership of him and euthanize him if I didn't sign the paperwork to neuter. He's my service animal they didn't let me see him for almost 3 weeks stating that it would be hard on him to see me not go home with me which was not true I use them for epilepsy I have seizures and he is an alert animal also I have PTSD to types from being shot 13 times and other victims of violent crime assaults, and they didn't care one bit I wrote the Ada and complained that they wouldn't let me see him and he wouldn't give him back to me unless I signed the paperwork I couldn't do it I had the bishop of my church (LDS) do it for me but it was under extreme duress and I just couldn't do it! I'm going to be suing them in civil court they've never given one exemption or one breeder's license since this was made a city ordinance in 2005 and they say and make it totally seem like it's a possibility they even have paperwork with the guidelines for the exemptions that they give you they manipulate you though they totally lied to you I was lied to many times until we take advantage of the situation that you're in and press you hard I hope up, they make you believe that it is a possibility to be exempt and in reality it's not They act without impunity and do as they will and that's just not okay with me. These people are seriously evil they wouldn't keep a seeint eye dog away from a blind person but it's okay to do it with my disabilities why is that? That's not okay or legal but they did just that. They totally neglected him and didn't take care of him he has many stores on his elbows from sitting on a hard surface the whole time not being walked I had a brush him for over 3 hours during 2 days to get all the dead skin and dirt off of him it was horrible he is not the same now he's definitely got PTSD now he just not himself, he's depressed and he's not doing what he did before for me at all as far as my service animal so they rendered my dog totally useless financially and as a service to animal. My dog is not the same, he's been changed forever and now I can't even breed him and make any money like I had planned to do since the day that I got him to support us so we're stuck homeless and broke thanks a lot animal control you guys suck ass!

They came out on a Sunday to help a squirrel that was injured in our yard. They arrived in less than an hour, and they were gentle and fast picking up the little guy, giving it a quick inspection, and taking it. Thank you AC! We hope it’s ok! (Don’t use snap traps for rats outside, even if pest control says that squirrels can’t get to them! AC said it was the third squirrel injured by rat traps this week.)

They helped me figure out what to do to help a hummingbird that got into my apartment. When it didn't work to get it out and then it fainted, we were able to get it to animal control. I don't know if the bird lives. It looked like it was dead but with hummingbirds you can't be sure. I wish I knew what happened to it. I definitely had a good experience on the phone and in person. The people who talked to me were so nice and helpful even though they were really busy.

Unexpectedly found the tiniest baby mouse spinning in circles / flailing uncontrollably out on my patio on Thanksgiving Day and SFACC had an officer at my address within 10 minutes to assist. Cannot recommend them enough. Thank you for all that you do!
