I volunteered and fostered here last summer and had an amazing experience! All the volunteers and staff were super helpful and welcoming and I had a great experience. I fostered (and then foster failed) a cat Lucy and had a great experience doing so. They provided me with litter, food, a cat bed, litter box, toys, etc with no cost! After two months I decided to adopt my 12 year old girl (now 13!) and it was great! I am so happy to have had this experience, especially being able to adopt Lucy. She is truly amazing ❤️

I found a kitten at my house and did not find the owner. It was a very nice kitten, but my wife and I have health problems and could not properly take care of it. I was sorry to have to give it to the SPCA but it was the best thing to do. I Pray that a good family gets the kitten. The staff was very helpful and nice. And very easy to deal with. If possible could you email me if the kitten gets it's forever home.

I saw a photo online of a young female dog that was being held. To be sure, they're family did not come for them. After the. Period Of waiting. We came to meet miss Gracie and fell in love with her. The staff was wonderful with helping us adopt.

We have always chosen Rockingham/HarrisonburgSPCA to help us find just the right pet. Viewing the adoptable pets is a valuable tool. You don't need to visit as much. However, you should visit the shelter at least once. Pictures do not do these pets justice. Be prepared to fall in love. I wish you could see the personalities. PRINCESS is one of the happiest, sweetest, prettiest dog you could ever meet. She is fluffy with great big fluffy paws. Too big for me. Please adopt her. Then we fell in love with a very intelligent little black and white terrier named Zoey. I hope she found a good home. We are in the process of trying to adopt Little Doggy, also named Moche. This is the sweetest little dog and I think the best match for my little morkie. I met the nicest lady that was her foster family. So many wonderful people volunteer their time at the shelter as well. Many of your local vetenatians volunteer too. I have to say, the staff at the shelter is quite impressive. They are knowledgeable and eager to help you and do their utmost best to protect the pets and find good homes for them. I'm pretty charged up and really grateful. To all of you...I THINK YOU ROCK.

My Bella baby was brought here and I've been devastated since. I never signed any papers giving consent for her to be here or sold. My kids and I wanted to get her and arranged it but my car broke down. Not being able to get her I had to rearrange a day then the wanted 200 for me to get my own dog back that I didn't even give the ok to be there. Not having the 200 to throw into getting her back I guess she'll eventually just end up being put to sleep since all these shelters are already overcrowded. My kids are upset and I've slept little to none. Bella was more then a dog. Her information isn't right either on her listing which I feel will make it harder for her to find a loving home.

The staff are friendly and helpful. Thank you, Heather! Ginger is as cute as could be. Also the building is nice and clean. Which is not always the case at a shelter. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a four legged family member.
