We made numerous trips/visits to both the Harrisonburg and Winchester locations. We traveled over three hours to honor this establishment due to the professional and responsible care of their puppies and cleanliness of their facilities. We finally found a great fit for our family. Every time we visited, the staff was friendly, pens were clean, and all puppies were well taken care of, with water and food readily available in the puppies cages. Our purchase was a great experience and the staff and management went above and beyond to make sure our puppy was healthy and was going to a good home. It was a pleasant surprise to also receive the many after purchase care items, including pet insurance, free vet check, microchip, cage/toy/food, education, etc., Our puppy was vet checked, had all vaccines, and was well socialized. We had a great experience and recommend this establishment for your puppy selection. They care more than for the immediate sell of the puppy.
I love going here, being able to play with the puppies is very therapeutic. However, there have been a few occasions, including one yesterday when I was there, where it felt as though the employee was basically pushing me out the door, so to speak. It was a ,"are we there yet?", type vibe and it felt like she was rushing my time there, I try not to let race be the first thing to come to mind but being the only poc in there at the time, i felt very uncomfortable when she basically stood there until I felt like I needed to hand the puppy over. If there is a time limit, it should be communicated with reason so that visitors go in there with proper knowledge and understanding.
I am a breeder and would consider myself to be a good one. I am saddened to see people support stores like these. I can’t imagine ever giving my puppies to a place like this and having them sell them to strangers. The only breeders that do something like that are backyard breeders or puppy mill style breeders. No one I know that is a good breeder would give their puppies to a place like this EVER. There’s a ton of puppies crammed in such a small area. All of them are too young to be fully vaccinated and should never be put in a situation like this. The staff defends this saying they are up to date on vaccines but anyone who knows and cares about puppy health knows that they are not protected until FULLY vaccinated which is IMPOSSIBLE at the ages they are selling them at. The animal shelter doesn’t even keep the puppies in the shelter at the ages they are sold at here due to safety reasons but it is okay for a store that is expecting you to spend thousands on their dogs? I saw quite a few puppies over the years with undesirable breed traits that can also cause them future health problems. It’s very clear that they are just trying to make a profit and are not putting the animals first. Please go to a reputable breeder if you would like to purchase a dog. Yes we have waiting lists, an approval process, and it takes some time because we care about our dogs. This place just gives them to anyone willing to pay the price. I was never happy with this place but what finally lead me to write a review is that a family member of mine was able to buy a dog from here that I would never sell one of mine to. The poor guy is neglected at home and they can’t be bothered with the vet care for him. It is 2024. It is long overdue that people stop giving money to support stores like this.
a fantastic store!! You can play with the puppies and if you want you can buy one to be part of your family. The staff is very friendly and well informed about the characteristics of each breed.
I got Elvis from here and they were amazing! With the purchase of a puppy your also given a bag of food, treats, some toys, puppy pads and a crate for the size dog you get. They are all healthy and well cared for. Even cover ur vet for a year! I love my baby so much! Thank you Puppy City
Hello, I purchased a puppy from Puppy City on March 31, 2023, whom I named Asia Eve. Despite expecting her to be a pure Yorkie, she turned out to be a mix of breeds. Nevertheless, I adored her deeply and could not imagine life without her. Sadly, just after her first birthday, she was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer with a prognosis of only one to two months. Tragically, her condition deteriorated rapidly, and she passed away within a week of the diagnosis. Overwhelmed with grief, I reached out to Puppy City for support, but they were unhelpful and showed no compassion, despite the significant financial investment I made in her care. I had basically paid $3000 for her and nearly $2000 in her final week of life for medical bills. Losing my beloved companion after only a year together was devastating, and she peacefully took her final breath on April 5, just after 11:30 AM.
