Description We are Lien Animal Clinic, a progressive small-animal veterinary practice in West Seattle that has been serving our community since 1951. We are a fun, hardworking group of 4 veterinarians and over 20 support staff that genuinely care about each other and about the patients we help every day. We always strive to provide our clients and their beloved critters with superior treatment from the moment they walk through our doors, and are lucky enough to have some of the best clients you could ask for. We surround ourselves with positive co-workers who thrive in an environment where learning is encouraged, exceptional care is taught, and a little silliness is welcomed.

Lien has been our primary clinic for our cats for most of the past 10 years. They have a dream team of competent vets to help you here so I usually don't even worry about which vet my cats see, all of them have been good. They vet techs and front desk staff have also been fantastic.

This may not be professional but raw emotions.. I would NOT take your dog here. Our drop off was at 8 am and pick up was to be between 2-4 as to make sure our dog comes out of anesthesia ok. There were no notifications or phone calls made when we were told Notificatiins were to be when my dog went into surgery and when he comes out from surgery. We called 3x to check on my dog as no one called to update us even though we were told we would get calls. Surgery happened at 3:45 then Dr Wolfe called at 425 and told us he would be ready at 530 for pick up. Front desk calls at 5:25 pm and said where are you, you were to be here at 5pm and we are closed. Taken aback by her tone and words- sorry but my mom's passed away and didn't know I was being scolded by someone who isn't my mother. My black lesbian wife showed up to get our dog and questioned the bill as it was different than we were quoted and questioned why we were being told different pick up times than what the Dr stated and why we never rece8ved any calls regarding our digs procedure and the delays. They then put her in a private room and said she was being "hostile" even though her voice never raised but rather a simple question asked. The technician- won't name her, showed up and brought a male with her into the room. My wife asked, why is he here with the response - it is protocol to assist when questions are asked. Why would you take my black lesbian wife into a private room when no other customers were there and your closed? I get your manager and Drs left at 5pm but there was no hostility on my wifes part just the office representative to whom I am not naming- she knows who she is. There was no hostility just irritation on front desk for having to wrk past her 5pm whistle blow . I understand running a business but since you turned corporate, your employees represent it and everyone is all about money and lack respect and compassion. To put my black wife in a room and accuse her of being "hostile" You should be ashamed of yourself for being disrespectful and stereotyping people. You should replace all new staff including your passive aggressive office manager as when you speak with her, she clearly doesn't care or listen to your complaint and take it to heart. After 40 year at lien, you disrespected my family for the last time. Take your dogs to Green Tree or Urban Animal as they love EVERYONE and all dogs. They don't judge or sterotype anyone!! I am so upset by the lack of respect from this company that represent West Seattle. Shame shame shame on YOU!! I will pay more money for respect compassionate and who we are!!

We have taken our pets to Lien since 2017 and I’m sad to say that it’s gone downhill in the past couple of years. They can’t seem to keep any of their doctors. The service has gotten worse. Sometimes it feels like they don’t really know what they are talking about. The last doctor I saw (who I didn’t know because they keep on changing) looked like he had never touched a cat. He wasn’t nice or warm to my cat. Usually they really take the time to let him smell and pet him, give him treats. This time he started manipulating my cat right away and then was surprised my cat was hissing at him. Then he said my cat was too aggressive for them to give him his vaccines (first time I hear this in 11 years), and I needed to go home, sedate him, and come back. To which I said, no I won’t sedate my cat nor will I come back to your clinic. Sad to see how it’s gotten bad because it used to be such a great place. I would highly consider another clinic if you are looking for a new vet.

I have nothing good to say about this place. They harmed both of my senior cats, resulting in one of their deaths. I advise anyone to stay away from "Dr." Wood. One of our cats had a carcinoma on her neck. She failed to address it, and I had to push extra hard to have it removed. When they removed it, they didn't do a decent job. Instead of following up with us and keeping an eye on it, she failed to address it afterwards. She should have referred us to an oncologist to have it removed and monitored, but didn't. When our cat's symptoms got bad, she failed to identify it as cancer spreading. Finally I asked her to take another biopsy and it came back as cancer. On a side note, cats can get cancer from needles and biopsies. Wood was so terrible at taking a biopsy that my cat was bleeding from the spot all day. It was horrible because it was her neck. Then it came back as cancer, in the same spot she supposedly removed the carcinoma. She told us she did it with good margins, but in fact the oncologist we went to afterwards told us it was done very poorly and with minimal margins. She didn't even put our cat on medications for cancer or anything. Further, the location she took a biopsy from immediately formed another carcinoma (which was one of our concerns, because needles can cause carcinomas, but she dismissed us). When we first took her to this location to have the lump removed in 2022 (I think), our cat was two years from when she died. Because Dr. Wood didn't follow up for a year and a half after the surgery, despite us taking her in multiple times for symptoms, by the time we realized something was deeply wrong, our little girl didn't last another six months. After the reexamination, we then took her to an oncologist because we didn't trust Wood anymore. Obviously she didn't cause the cancer, but she didn't provide decent care or refer to more competent people when she should have. After the initial surgery, she dismissed our concerns for an entire year and a half. Our cat could have survived, but Wood's negligence (or lack of understanding) resulted in cancer spreading without treatment. Our other senior cat had a chipped tooth. It had been chipped for ten years and other vets had said it was fine to leave in because it wasn't bad. Dr Wood decided it needed to be removed, but rather than just removing it, she removed FOUR teeth for no reason. Now my cat can barely eat. Dr. Wood is incompetent and basically a monster in my opinion. Rather than providing adequate care, she was more interested in extracting money from us. We gave them thousands and our pets suffered. I will never go back to this place and I'm deeply sad that I let her anywhere near my animals. I do not recommend this place, and if you need anything beyond vaccines, I'd recommend looking for a better vet. Her dismissal of our concerns, and her poor assessments of our cat's health led to our cat dying prematurely. And our other cat can't eat because she took it upon herself to remove four teeth, including two canines on an elderly cat.

For 7 years we were so happy with the care our little man received at Lien... in 2021 they were able to catch some small lumps that happened to be lymphoma and saved his life. We are forever grateful for that! Fast forward to yesterday... all new staff and not a single familiar face. The doctor did no followup, didnt clearly answer any of my questions (even those around a potential enlarged lymph node) and even asked me what vaccines we needed... you're the doctor with the chart you tell me what vaccines are due. Long story short the minute I got home I contacted a new vet and because I didn't trust the exam my baby was given we have an appointment with that new vet next week.

Staff is skilled and shows a real concern for your pet. I like the availability of the Thrive Plus policy.
