The people at SAS are literally doing God's work, saving all these helpless animals and making sure that they find loving homes to go to. I've adopted two cats from here in the recent years and am surprised by how quickly they can help cats find homes, including things such as adoption drives! My friends who weren't pet lovers fell in love with pets after visiting a few here and are considering adoption, so kudos!

My experience here was to get a dog license for my pooch. Had a frustrating time trying to get the license online so I switched to a phone call instead. Once again here in Washington the government bureaucracy shines brightly (the other time was getting a driver license). The shelter agent was helpful, friendly and patient and the process took just 10 minutes. About a week later, the new dog license arrived. Kudos for a job well done!

I adopted my puppy here and it was a great sweet experience! I went there on a Saturday and it was as busy as it can get so it can take a while to finalize the paperwork but staff is super attentive and friendly making the process even more lovely!

Got a tour of this wonderful facility today and got to meet all of the terrific people who work there, as well as some of the dogs & cats. What a great place, obviously run by people who take great care of the animals. Special thanks to our tour guide, Aimee Zimmerman!

Wonderful experience! Convenient parking and location. Facility is clean, bright, welcoming and very well ran by employees/volunteers who are caring and knowledgeable. We adopted a dog; cats and other critters are also available for adoption. There is a clinic upstairs that provides low cost spay/neuter, vaccinations, etc. Also at this location are resources/donations for those in need. You can visit the shelter and adopt in person or begin the process on line. I recommend beginning the adoption process by checking their website a few times a day as new animals are listed frequently. Some animals are housed at the shelter and some are fostered; check the animal’s location and get adoption application in right away, Small dogs seem to be adopted quickly. Our dog was fostered by a wonderful and caring couple whom we set up a meet and greet with after our application was approved. We finalized the process at the shelter the following day then set up a time to meet with our dog’s fosters and bring him home. Adoption package comes with a ton of valuable resources and info. plus a free vet check. Our dog was neutered, microchipped and received current shots before adoption. We were able to purchase his license at the shelter. Also handy is a large chain pet store nearby. Adoption fees are really reasonable with discounts for seniors and disabled plus adoption fees on some animals have been waived. Overall, a host of amazing and caring people made this a wonderful experience and I would recommend Seattle Animal Shelter highly.

There is something special about a building full of volunteers. These guys are selfless. I have adopted two cats here, and helped a few friends find their fur babies here. Amazing if you think about it. When was the last time you saw a stray dog in Seattle? I can't remember seeing one, ever. If your feeling lonely, but are not looking for human companionship. Visit Seattle Animal Shelter, and give one of these little guys or gals a home. You will be so happy you did. Seniors and people with disabilities get a 50% discount. Many of the animals cost nothing to adopt which is even better .They use a great chipping company that has their own app.I have gone here just to visit the dogs. You can become a volunteer yourself.Even a couple hours a week walking the dogs would make them so happy. I love this place.
