Description The Haven is a no-kill animal shelter recognized for having one of the highest save rates in Alabama. This reputation leads many people to bring their pets or found strays to us instead of open admission animal control shelters. While we would love to help every animal, we must responsibly care for those already under our protection. Therefore, we pull homeless cats and dogs from local partnering open admission shelters. The Haven does not take animals from the general public. Our animals, pulled from partnering shelters, are often those scheduled for euthanasia due to space and resource constraints. Thank you for understanding and supporting our mission.

I adopted a dog named Elvis. We changed it to Tucker. He is soooo sweet and gentle. He is super needy and howls forever if you put him in a kennel or leave him in a room over 30 seconds. I am sure he will get over that in time. He is very very polite and potty trained already. He knows sit and lay down. We have had him since March 5th. We live him so much!

I wanted to express my disappointment with the way Kimberly and Machelle treated my mom. They convinced her to commit to adopting a dog, but when she arrived to pick it up, they had already given the dog to someone else. Instead of apologizing or offering a solution, they treated her poorly, as if she were the one at fault for being upset. To make matters worse, they threatened to call the police on her, which was completely uncalled for. Their behavior was unprofessional, impolite, and unkind. I would strongly advise anyone to be cautious when dealing with these individuals. Based on this experience, I wouldn’t trust them with any responsibility, not even something as simple as picking up dog waste from my yard.

I'm so thankful that the Haven exists. They do incredible work and Save thousands of lives every year. We recently adopted a sweet Kitty from them. He has become the light of my life and my best friend. It was a wonderful adoption experience and all of the Haven workers or amazing. They allowed me to borrow their kennel and return it the next day so that my cat would not be afraid in the car. I recommend the Haven to anyone looking to adopt a pet.

The Haven is a fantastic animal rescue organization and shelter. They have many great programs to assist people with pet care and and adoptions. I've been impressed and involved with The Haven for 20 years.

Brought bath towels and hand towels for donation. I was made very welcome and thanked by multiple staff and volunteers. I had tried to call and check this was actually a donation they needed, but they are very very busy and their phone is probably overwhelming. They are doing important work and are very caring. They do accept towels as well as sheets, pillowcases, blankets and comforters (no down please).

Just know when coming here, the director Michael who cares about animals so much snubs his nose up at people from Mobile . Scrolling through Facebook, I noticed him irritated with someone posting 2 lost animals she found in Mobile on his precious Fairhope page . You would think for someone who cares for animals so much he would appreciate people looking for help .. but not this guy , just a paycheck for him . SAD
