My dog and I were stranded in a cornfield with a disabled van for 6 days. We are both near death from dehydration and weak. well I went to the hospital and these wonderful people took great care of my puppy and even gave me a nice discount due to my circumstances. they charged me $30 which was perfect because I had $32 in quarters to my name. they even let The puppy take a toy which he loves so much now it's his comfort toy.

Hi, This is our border collie puppy Spook. He is almost 2 years old. His birthday is June 25th. On May 25th, he went missing. We called the Decatur & Macon County Animal Shelter Foundation multiple times to see if he had been found and brought in. However, no one ever answered the phone. We left messages with our contact information and described him. We also called on the 28th, a day before he was brought into the shelter. However, we were never contacted. The one time my husband was able to get in contact with someone, he was told that there weren’t any stray dogs in, but someone would take a note. We even called this morning and no one answered. YET he was adopted by another family around 1 this afternoon and someone called us back at 2:07pm to say he wasn’t in the shelter anymore. This cannot be fair. When we went in person to speak with someone at the front desk, we were told that it was our fault for not coming in even though we both work past the shelter’s operating hours. The representative was consistently contradicting herself saying they post lost dogs on the website, but they didn’t post him because they were busy and that not every lost dog will get posted specifically on facebook. I do understand the circumstances but there has to be some responsibility held for the terrible communication and organizational skills held by these representatives. Had we known he was there, we certainly would have come for him. We just want our Spooky back. Thank you!

This is Hudson I adopted him for you facility. I've loved him for 13 years now. So loving and gentle. Has raised every cat I've ever owned.

Busy atmosphere. Not ideal customer service. However, they do remind you to keep checking and express sympathy.

I adopted a dog in August of 2023, my first rescue from a shelter. They called the dog Birddy, I renamed the dog Gertrude. She has been my best friend, the best dog a person could as for, she had been abused. You will never get a better feeling rescuing you new family "friend" form Macon County animal shelter. Me and Gertrude are inseparable.
