My husband and I found two stray dogs on 07/16/24 , by the time we go back home the shelter was about to close so we decided the doggies would spend the night - we then took off work the next day (our 3 year wedding anniversary) and proceeded to head over to there - the lady who did the Intake was super friendly - then I called a few days later to see if the owner had gotten then back - Nope :( The lady I spoke to on the phone WAS SO FREAKING NICE , and helpful. I told her I’d love to foster if she needed someone to. The next day she called and said that she did and there were cleared for transport soon! Then I got a voicemail that said hey you guys can come get them on Friday or Saturday whichever works best for you between these times so we went on Saturday between the time she gave and said “hey we’re here to foster Rowan and Iris” and she said “ no one told me I don’t have a foster for today “ and I said “Hillary left me a voicemail” and she told me and then she came back and said “do you have more information? We said “yes it’s under my husbands name” She then led us to get the dogs , keep in mind when the lady told me that a foster was needed she said make sure you let them know if you need a kennel, blankets, food etc. so I said “ could we please have a kennel - (these are 8 months old puppies, brother and sister) she said “SURE” and then I said could we please have food for them and she said “SURE WHY NOT” Like I’m doing her/the shelter a favor and your going to be rude, and unprofessional like that … I don’t know her name but I’ll try and get it when we take them back for transport.
Aiken County Animal Shelter is amazing. The workers and volunteers were knowledgable about the dogs’ personalities. We were shown all the dogs that might be a fit for our family. Bob, a worker, even tested Tucker with a cat before we brought him home. We are over the moon and beyond grateful for Tucker, the Aiken County Animal Shelter, and FOTAS. I couldn’t recommend them more. Thank you!!!!
Aiken shelter was great. Adopted this jewel. They had named her Rapunzel. We changed it to Grace. She has adjusted so well. Looking healthy and happy.
Great shelter. They take good care of the animals. They provide lots of information and resources when you adopt. Best $35 spent.
Elijah now named Eli…the volunteers are AWESOME!!!! I adopted a dog that was there for 4 months. I visited several times with various family members before deciding to adopt. They followed up with calls & offered training. The best experience. THANK YOU! We have a great dog. The volunteers take the time to know the animal & personality.
I ran short this week on food for my babies I was told to go here to get help until I get paid next week. A lady at the front counter that was a volunteer basically down graded me for asking for a little help in front a lobby full of people. My dogs are very well taken care of!! Very unprofessional will NEVER reach out to them again when I called to make it aware that she did this all I was told was she is having a bad day! This is what makes people not want to reach out when they need a little help. Definitely need to be careful about who they let volunteer there.
