I dont have a personal experience with them. Other then the fact that I enquired about a dog on adopt a pet through their rescue. The dog was 3,000 dollars! Idk what happened to DDR, they seemed like they used to be a reputable rescue some years ago, not anymore. In fact, I seen another person leave a review that they actually get dogs from puppy mills and sell them for thousands of dollars. It is true afyer the dog I asked about was 3,000 dollars. Shame on them for posing as a reputable rescue, and contributing to the puppy mill industry. That is the worst betrayal of all. Please do not support this so called " rescue"

Very poor employees and customer service. A very nice stray neutered pitbull walked up to me yesterday and after a referral to bring him here, I went. I got here before closing time and no one answered the door. Finally an older short Caucasian lady was leaving out of the building. I said excuse me ma'am, and she looked at me and ignored me and proceeded to her husbands Ford fusion and pulled off. I said wow. So after ringing the doorbell, an older tall Caucasian man with straggly hair answered with an attitude and said that they were closed. I told him that I was here before closing time. I said that I found a dog and I was referred by the humane society to bring him here. He point across the street stating that everyone was gone. I said there has to be a manager here because you've just closed. He then stated, I just told you that they were closed. He was very nasty all while shaking his head and talking at me as if I was scum of the earth. You all do not need people who are not from this city servicing the city. Those kinds of people bring negative and deep-rooted hate with them so how is it possible to receive genuine customer service and love for the animals that they're supposed to care for? My journey started at 2pm yesterday and ended at 4:30pm. I returned him to the humane society and they said that since I was really trying, they would squeeze him in. I was not going to give up until that nice dog was safe. Detroit already going through lot for Caucasian people to come here and bring their hate and nasty attitudes here. Please do better and hire professional individuals who genuinely love all people and animals.

I am disappointed to see bad reviews, but I realize that we're all just imperfect humans! This mess that is our world now is the fault of humans 😔.

My experience with Detroit Dog Rescue was nothing short of disappointing and disheartening. From the moment I reached out to them for help in rehoming a dog I found on my front porch, I was met with false accusations and poor treatment from both the owner and the staff. Despite my genuine care and efforts in providing a safe and loving environment for the dog for over a month and a half, they treated me as if I were an abuser. This couldn't have been farther from the truth. Instead of showing empathy and understanding, they chose to cast unfounded judgment upon me. The false accusations and poor treatment not only left me feeling disrespected and demoralized but also undermined my trust in their organization. It's disheartening to think that an institution supposedly dedicated to rescuing and caring for animals would treat a concerned citizen let alone another dog professional in such a manner. In the end, the lack of professionalism and compassion displayed by Detroit Dog Rescue marred what could have been a positive experience in finding a new home for a deserving dog. I urge others to approach this organization with caution and to seek alternative options for animal assistance and rehoming.

I called twice and no one answered, I left two messages and they did call back but I missed the calls both times. I told them I was interested in fostering a particular dog I seen on their website. They told me to feel out the application but I decided to go see the dog before I sent in a foster application. I knocked on the door a about 5 minutes and finally someone answered and when I told her I was to see the dog she said I couldn’t see the dog without completing an application and that probably wouldn’t be able to foster that particular dog because they needed someone who was use to that breed. I just looked at her like she was crazy be because you just insulted me and told me I probably wasn’t good enough to foster this dog, that’s how I interpreted it. I decided right then, I will never contact this place again nor will I support it with my time or money. Please forgive my grammar.
