Description Friends of Detroit Animal Care & Control (FoDACC) is committed to saving animals' lives, ensuring equal access to companion animals for those of all socio-economic levels, and raising the level of care for animals living in the city of Detroit. We work hand in hand with Detroit's municipal shelter, Detroit Animal Care & Control (DACC), to help the homeless animals at DACC and proactively keep animals out of our shelter in the first place. FoDACC exists to support DACC in the areas of volunteer management, donation solicitation and acceptance, and live release, which includes shelter intervention. FoDACC is nonprofit and run by volunteers.

We adopted bananarama the same day we saw him. He has been a great addition to our little family. The lady at the front desk was very nice and got our adoption paperwork done quickly. We even got some goodies to take home with us. (Harness, collar, leash, treats, toys, and dog food) everyone was very excited about us taking him home and he was very loved there. Thank you guys so much for making this a speedy process and all of the goodies. We renamed him Beau and he’s starting to come out of his shell. He loves to snuggle and is doing amazingly here❤️

On the website, it said they open Monday through Friday. I get there on Monday, and they are closed talking about how they are only open for emergencies. I did my paperwork online, and they messed it up. And I'm trying to get it straightened out with someone, so I went down there. Just to be let down, but they were not open.

This is such an amazing organization. After volunteering with them I saw how much they do for the animals of Detroit and out-reach with the community. They truly care for the animals and give them the best care they can. I can’t say enough great things about them. I ended up fostering and adopting the best dog through them and the process and support was unmatched.

This org is doing amazing & beautiful work to help the dogs, and people, of Detroit. They hold adoption events, pet owner education seminars, free vaccines & spay/neuter opportunities, pet food outreach events, microchipping, and more to assist the animals that end up at the city shelter. So much heart, dedication, empathy, and compassion. Bravo to everyone involved! Keep doing what you are doing, FoDACC, and know that you are appreciated by so many!

Nice lady at the front desk. I have two German Shepherds I would love to bring in only because I'm unable to feed them like I would love to take care of them but my money is tight. Plus with my mom being sick I can't bring them with me. I asked the young lady will they be able to give my babies a home and they said they are not guaranteed they will. They will get put down for a short moment to be in. I kept them. But it ruff

Great place to get involved if you want to positively impact animal welfare. We’ve done slumber parties and fostered. Staff is very communicative and supportive.
