The mixed reviews of this place are accurate. I've adopted twice from this shelter. My second adoption we were unable to keep due to my son being immunocompromised and the dog having severe dermatitis. After trying to contact them about returning him and missing a call from the adoption counselor, I dropped by to talk with them about returning the dog. The first volunteer I spoke to was very short with me and told me that the dog's condition is what vets are for. I'm fully aware of this as I've been a dog owner my entire life and I've adopted before. Once another volunteer came out to speak to me her responses to my needing bring the dog back we're very discourteous. I understand that at the time of this writing there is a shortage of kennels and an overflow of dogs, however speaking to people in this tone and dealing with people with this type of attitude will surely leave a bad impression. They're quite kind if you're a prospective adopter but if you have to surrender for any reason be prepared to take dirty looks and disrespectful tone. I'm highly disappointed in the behavior of the humans responsible for these beautiful animals.
These guys were great I love them for the job they do. Maryville Animal Shelter Because without them I would have never found my dog so THANK YOU GUYS.
Vert nice folks. They were doing some interior painting.
I would rather go to a shelter than to buy a dog from a store. Shelter dogs make better companions. And my kid absolutely fell in love with Benji.
If i could put 0 stars i would. I had to re-home my dog due to many reasons. 1. Our apartment is too small for a pitbull/lab mix. 2. he had no space to go outside and run. 3. we were given to him as a gift. Instead of making that poor pup suffer, I wanted to re-home him. I called my local shelter and the guy that answered was completely rude. He had the biggest attitude and made me feel extremely bad about the decision I was making after many months of me over-thinking it. I did not feel good about leaving my pup. It was merely out of necessity and I cannot afford to give him the yard that a big dog needs. I believe the person who answers the phone needs to be 100X less judge mental. They do not know the whole story. I did not take my dog there due to feeling judged. I did not want my dog to be treated with cruel behavior.
Can’t say enough good things about this business. The staff is loving and professional with the animals and people like my husband and I wanting to adopt. They try to match your life style and what you are wanting, to the proper little fur baby. We worked with Al and he was very accommodating and made the process so easy. Everyone we dealt with was wonderful. We adopted our new little buddy a little over a week ago. He is very well behaved and has conducted himself like a perfect gentleman. The three of us already have a deep bond and love. We are so happy and appreciative. Highly recommend. There are so many animals that need a good forever home. Please consider adopting if you are is the market for a little buddy of your own.
