Princess went in on a Saturday and was immediately seen due to her critical breathing issues. The vets were informative and courteous and taking her condition seriously . She had to be transferred to another ER bc they closed overnight where she stayed several more days and died . She had pneumonia supposedly . Their radiologist on the x days did not give the best tips according to the next vet . I do wish perhaps they had started her on more vigorous antibiotics that day . However out of the three vets princess went to during her emergencies on Friday and Saturday, I think I would recommend the blue pearl . They did respond very quickly. The cost was outrageous of course but I guess that’s what you get at an ER.

A hidden gem, we were referred to BluePearl of Richmond, by a vet that was closing at 9:00 PM and Blue Pearl was one of the 2 places mentioned. They were great, full emergency services, they can take care of whatever the issue is. Great facility and great staff! BLue Pearl did not show up in google, so thank goodness for referrals.

I saw this facility had a few negative scores, so I wanted to add my positive experience. I took my cat in for lily toxicity. The staff were quick to bring her back to examine her, they were empathetic (I was crying!), and knowledgable. They even texted me a picture of her overnight to calm my fears because I called to check on her (Thank you, Mya!). They were very clear about her treatment plan throughout the process. If we have a pet emergency in the future, I would go back there.

Took my pet there to get treatment. Got an astronomical quote and paid $500 to get sent home with meds. They did not even take X-rays although the vet said his tail was fractured. They did not wrap his tail. Come to find out the next day, that he was too “aggressive” so they didn’t take X-rays even though they said his tail was fractured. How would they know? Took him to my normal vet and he now has to get his tail amputated after X-rays. When I asked if they had to sedate him to do so, she said nope, he sat there with no problem. And his tail was not fractured, it was an allergic reaction from his food. So now I’m out an extra $500 for no reason. Worst experience ever.

Please prepare yourself for the lengthy review, but we thought our experience was so deserving of a thorough recap of the services we received, and praise for the team! We cannot thank BluePearl Pet Hospital enough for the care we received when we brought our dog in for emergency treatment this past Monday. We had been at another clinic for over 7 hours with little assistance due to (what we can only hope) was low staffing on their part, and were grasping at straws to try and get our dog, Penny, some help after she had a very deep wound. It was nearing 7:30 PM, and we were worried that she wouldn't be seen at all that day. After looking for different options, we found that BluePearl was opening at 8 PM and called to see if they thought they would have availability for her that evening. After being reassured over the phone that they had availability to see her if we brought her in, we made it to Blue Pearl and were greeted immediately by Tabitha who was also the individual who helped us over the phone. She came out to help us get our pup into the clinic upon arrival and was quick to ask us if she could give Penny a dose of pain medicine to keep her comfortable while we discussed our options because of what we had been through earlier that day. Tabitha was clear about the cost upfront, and we were so grateful that her first priority was getting Penny calm and comfortable. Tabitha was incredibly kind and made us feel heard when we discussed our attempts at getting Penny treatment at the other clinic, and even went above and beyond to contact the previous clinic directly to confirm what had actually been done/not done to ensure Penny was getting the correct care. Within a few moments of completing the intake process, Dr. James Riddle met with us to review our options for treatment. Dr. Riddle and his team kept our previous experience in mind when proposing our options, and made sure that we understood all components of each option in detail (including cost range, possible things they could run into during treatment, anesthesia procedures, recovery time, etc.) After getting Penny set up for surgery, the team texted us regular updates on how she was doing, what procedures they decided on, etc. to keep us informed throughout the entire process. They even sent a photo of her as she was waking up from anesthesia to let us know she was doing really well. When we came in that same night to pick Penny up, we received thorough and clear discharge instructions from Tabitha on what our next steps would be for her recovery. She reviewed the "gear" Penny was wearing with us in detail so that we felt comfortable managing everything until her follow-up, and was incredibly patient with the questions we had. We were so lucky that we found BluePearl when we really needed them, and are so grateful for their caring, thorough, and efficient team!

I had to drive 2 hours to Richmond as they were the closest emergency vet accepting patients after midnight on Tuesday because my male cat who has a history of bladder/UTI issues, had not urinated in over 24 hours. Even though I noted he had not been in taking as much fluid, I was worried about a blockage. The vet tech was extremely compassionate and helpful over the phone and greeted us as soon as we arrived, took my cat back and after a few minutes brought him back, asked some questions and let me know they were very confident he was not blocked since his bladder felt soft and not full, vitals were normal and his demeanor seemed normal. They let us go home to follow up with our primary vet and did not charge me a dime. They could have easily taken advantage of any examination fees, could have performed unnecessary tests that would have left me with a bill I really can’t afford right now. I ended up taking him to his vet yesterday and spent over $500 on treatment and diagnostics for his constipation and bladder inflammation (no blockage) so I’m extremely grateful to the staff that helped us Monday night/Tuesday morning for being so compassionate and only doing what they felt was necessary. Thank you guys SO much!!
