I applied to adopt a kitten here and was very curtly rejected. Confused (as I have the time, space, love and means to care for an animal), I inquired as to why, and whether I should send additional applications for other animals. I was told, "you should not submit additional applications to CARE. It states on our website that CARE reserves the right to deny applications without a stated reason." and NOTHING else. Also, while this organization has a phone number listed, note that it is an UNATTENDED NUMBER for which you cannot even leave a voicemail. That to me is a HUGE red flag.

I adopted my cat from CARE almost 3 years ago and they were wonderful to work with. Because they are a foster-based network, my cat's foster family was able to tell me quite a bit about her personality and habits, based on what they'd observed from living with her for a couple of months. In speaking with the adoption coordinator, I could tell that they really care about making sure every cat goes to the right home.

It's incredible that such a small amount of power has gone to the heads of these people. They were unreasonable and unkind to my wife when she applied to adopt a cat. Learn how to communicate with actual human beings!

CARE was so unfriendly and did not even have the courtesy to tell me the cat I wanted to adopt was placed in another home. I DO NOT RECOMMEND CARE to anyone wishing to adopt a cat or kitten.

Given the run around several times before even meeting a foster. Don't understand why would they make it so difficult to adopt a rescued pet? Save yourself time and avoid getting your kids hopes up. Now if I say they are racists I'm wrong but foster led my family to believe we were approved then made up excuses as to why they were going with someone else. Meanwhile her husband made the same mistake I did and tried picking up the kitten and it squirms right out of each of our grips. Please don't tell me what kinda cat I need then interview me like I'm getting a show cat but get redirected elsewhere smh. Never been so serious I will invest in a certified breed without the interrogation.

I adopted a wonderful kitty named Panda from this organization. They do a great job of vetting a cat's personality for you and your household. I wanted to adopt a cat that gets along with other cats--I had just lost a cat, and I had a crochety old cat at home that needed company (but didn't know it!) He was not happy at first when Panda came into the house, but she was so sweet to the old crusty guy that she won him over. Now they play together and groom each other. Also, I don't agree with the one star reviews at all. When you read them, keep in mind that this organization is run by volunteers. The response time and customer service will not be like the ASPCA.
