Clean. Very clean. Register clerk was genuinely friendly. Saw several cats that were amazing. Staff took pride ensuring that the cats were well-groomed, comfortable, and available for viewing. Shelves were stocked more than adequately and kept very neat. I found my visit there very satisfying. Only thing I didn't really like was the higher cost for the dry cat food I bought. Price continues to climb; in 6 months, the price has increased almost $10...inflation is just another form of GREED.

My 6 years old son wanted fishes as pet so I went there and requested to get 4 comet Gold fishes to start with. I currently have 10 Gallon tank. one Big guy came and said he can not sell eve 1 gold fish because minimum required talk for gold fish is 29 Gallon for 1 gold fish. I said what!!. who keeps 29 gallon talk for 1 gold fish? in the store they are keeping 100s of gold fish in tiny tanks and selling them 22 cent per piece. He said, fishes will get mental issues in tiny tanks etc. Anyway. I asked the big guy 'what is your name?' he became defensive and said he can not give name. I asked, 'You are an employee right? why can not you give me your name'? yes just a name. He refused. I asked,' show me the policy where it is written that you need only 29 gallon tank to sell each one of the gold fish. He said, 'I did not say that I can not sell. I just gave you the advice'. Boss. We all know what it is !! Please don't do this. If you want to run PETA, you would not run a pet shop where you keep 100s of fish in tiny tanks. You can not always push us for expensive fishes because for a small kid we need to start with less expensive ones.

I have no words to express my opinions. My dog came back with terrible allergies from the pet smart, itching like crazy and we had to take her to the vet. After some screening they found several hotspots and wounds in the skin around her neck which could be the tight leash or bad handling, which she didn’t had before, they veterinarian had to shave a big part of her neck to try help with the healing. Also she had to take a very expensive shot for the allergies, and last but not least I’m still having a hard time to understanding why they completely cut her whiskers and eye browns. I never seen this before, and I called to ask about it and someone told the groomers do that all the time, again I never seen this before.

I’m in shock by pet care at this store. They sold me a bearded dragon with a very critical upper respiratory infection. Took him to another petsmart and they said this should not have been sold to me. They also put my bearded dragon in a moist cup to take home…. It’s a desert animal…. No wonder it has an infection. He’s at the vet now and he’s most likely not coming home.

It's a great store to find pretty much everything you need for your pet. I love that they let you bring in your pet! Sometimes, pets are brought in from non-profits like Purring Hearts of VA to put up for adoption.

The customer service is amazing! I have been helped by Toby the past few times I’ve gone and its so clear he cares about every animal big or small. He has been great with helping me know what I need and what I should do to set up my fish tank and is awesome at building relationships and holding conversations with customers!
