On October 8th a kitten was hiding under my hood and at times underneath the bottom of my vehicle for over 10 hours. Thank you Officer Landry of the Pitt County Animal Control for your patience in working to ensure that this kitten was safely out of my vehicle. Your dedication to working on the clock then returning on your personal time to ensure the kitten was safe. Thank you.
We just got our newest family addition on Thursday. She is so, so sweet. We've fallen in love with her. We are looking forward to lots of adventures with our girl, Pearl! The staff were so nice and friendly. They worked with us to get all the proper medical tests done for her adoption release so we could get our application filled out and completed. We even got to meet the officer who brought her in. The shelter staff shows love to these poor creatures. The lady who showed us the dogs had something nice to say about their personalities or provided helpful information. They all work together and make sure the animals are as comfortable as they can be considering their environment. While we were their, two families came to foster dogs. The fact that they offer a fostering program is just great because it takes a lot of stress off the animals. What happened in early 2023 to the dog quarantined was heartbreaking. The dog nor pet parent did not deserve that outcome. However, this shelter does a lot of good for countless animals. Please consider adopting from them. The animals need good homes.
Looking at past reviews there is no undoing such a horrendous mistake that will stick with this place for a while however I was here recently and I can say that the current staff do not seem to represent those that were here in the past. They do seem to care about the animals currently in their custody and the facility was well maintained. I even went home with a new member of my family. Definitely still reccomend stopping by because whatever issues we all may have there are still little ones here that require love and homes
Someone dropped off our labradoodle. They took great care of him and were very nice to deal with, especially during an overwhelming time. These people don’t get the respect they deserve. Thank you from our entire family for taking care of oliver
I thought this was a good place. I have had a dog for 2 days that was rescued from being hit on the highway and told them I cannot keep him because of my dog. She told me if I could not take care of him I should not have rescued him and she was gonna have to euthanize 2 dogs to make a place for him. Where is the help? And what kind of person says that? Not impressed. Now I feel terrible and really hope he finds a good home. Not impressed with the system. Here is his photo. Someone please get him 😞
Good place to volunteer and walk the dogs at a nice park!! I was initially nervous to volunteer because this shelter does euthanize, but they do participate in an award winning program in walking the dogs every day. It’s a great way to give the dogs space to truly live and be free away from their kennel.
