I like many of the other reviews found a lost pup. I wanted to hold on to him to try to find his owner but was unable to due to a family situation that I needed to take care of out of town. I tried the humane society first but they don't take walk ins so I came here. As other reviewers have noted the woman at the front is rude. In my opinion there is not a real push to get animals adopted. I hope that the sweet pup I brought in will reconnect with family and if that doesn't happen I hope he won't be murdered by this shelter that seems to disregard the life of animals.
Front desk staff is amazing and friendly . I adopted the best puppy ever Kiwi here in July 2023. Lately I was curious where they found her in the first place, but thought it was too late to ask ( 9 months later) . I called anyway and they informed me they keep records forever ! I now know her backstory and am so thankful for the good people who work here and take care of the animals. Keep up the good work !!!
We went in to adopt an additional cat for our family, even did the meet and greet and introduced it to my 4 year old. Was told we couldn’t have him because my husband mentioned taking him outside. It seems they are not that concerned with getting the animals adopted. This process should be made easy to make sure the animals get a loving home, regardless of the other pets in home. After reading other reviews it appears they had rather just euthanize. Did I mention they put my husbands name on a list to make sure he couldn’t adopt again. Sad
I called right when they opened up at 11:30am the 9th day of my pets quarantine thinking it was the day I would be picking him up to let them know I’m on my way to pick up York my family pet, the lady on the phone said I couldn’t pick him up that day actually until the next day after 2 but since they are on their break between 1-2 she suggested I come at 3pm and that she was going to make her coworkers aware of my coming for York. I agreed and felt assured until the next day when I end up arriving at 2:38pm (earlier than 3pm because I was SO ANXIOUS to finally see my beloved pet) to only find out that they had already euthanized him bc Forsyth animal shelter FAILED to document that I was coming for him and did not waste a minute to kill him. I don’t understand why they protest how they want to make sure every dog gets a home but yet KILL beloved animals and don’t waste a minute. Not to mention Kirsten Briggs said she called us many times before about my pet but when I got back home we checked EVERYONE of me and my family members phone logs to see if there was any possible call coming from Forsyth county animal shelter and there was NOT any call at all. This place is so quick to kill. There needs to be some sort of reformation happening. This was not right what they did. Another thing to to mention that animal control left my house at 3 pm from picking up my pet and the 10th day quarantine they ended up killing him before that time. You are just wrong for this. Me and my family are suffering from yalls mistakes.
we took a stray porch cat here in march because we had to move and we didn’t want her to stay in that neighborhood alone because she was small even though she wasn’t a kitten and the bigger cats there would mess with her a lot, so then they put her on the lost and found page and I kept checking every day to see when she would be put on the adoption page, and then one day she finally disappeared from the lost and found page and I got excited and ran over to the adoption page thinking she was there now but she wasn’t, so we called and asked for an update on her, and mind you the people on the phone are always rude and have an attitude, but anyways they said she “didn’t pass the adoption test” or whatever and refused to say why, or explain what that means and tell us what would happen to her next, so to this day I don’t know if she’s alive or not and that’s heartbreaking, these people are evil, if I would’ve known this would happen my mom would’ve drove the extra miles to go to the humane shelter instead, maybe they would’ve been a better choice..?
The front desk ladies are super nice! we came here to put our dog down sadly. The ladies up front were very helpful and sincere. As for the older man that does the euthanasia, absolutely a rude man. Was rushing the desk lady to hurry up the paper work so we could come back there. Would not tell me why we could not be with him on his last few moments and was walking away with him before we could even say goodbye and when i asked him to stop and give us a minute he sighed and said “i guess you can”. people with this job need to have more compassion for the owners of animals as this was already a hard moment and he made our day so much worse.
