Front desk staff is amazing and friendly . I adopted the best puppy ever Kiwi here in July 2023. Lately I was curious where they found her in the first place, but thought it was too late to ask ( 9 months later) . I called anyway and they informed me they keep records forever ! I now know her backstory and am so thankful for the good people who work here and take care of the animals. Keep up the good work !!!

Traumatizing experience, DO NOT take any animal to this shelter. I found a dog traveling through WS- she was young, beautiful, well mannered, friendly toward other dogs, and house trained. She also was wearing a pink color, clearly had she had a home. My friend in WS took her in for a few days while trying to find her owner, and afterwards took her to Forsyth County as she could not care for her. When she brought her in, the staff said she was adorable, would be kept on a stray dog hold for 3 days, that it would only extend longer if she needed medical help, and then she would be up for adoption. I checked the website every day, she was never placed for adoption. After contacting Kirsten Briggs, she told me that the dog was euthanized at the end of her 3-day stray dog hold. The risk of this was not once told to my friend who brought the dog to the shelter. She said the reason was they did not have room. Meanwhile, they have had some of the same dogs and cats on their site for over a month, and do not have any promotions for adoption. Their FB page also encourages people to check their site for lost dogs… when they do not even post them. They also did not once inform my friend of the risk of euthanization. It’s disgusting how easily they discard strays brought to this facility. I’m sure the staff will do as they did to all other 1-star reviews and try to rationalize what happened, but the reviews speak for themselves. My experience was a combination of every other 1-star review on this page. These people are not animal lovers, do not assess animals for adoptability correctly, and euthanize at high rates. It’s disgusting and cruel. Had we been properly informed of the fate the shelter would give this dog, we would have never left her here. The shelter did their very best to give us false information, withhold the dog from the public eye, and put her down three days later. Absolutely disgusting.

we took a stray porch cat here in march because we had to move and we didn’t want her to stay in that neighborhood alone because she was small even though she wasn’t a kitten and the bigger cats there would mess with her a lot, so then they put her on the lost and found page and I kept checking every day to see when she would be put on the adoption page, and then one day she finally disappeared from the lost and found page and I got excited and ran over to the adoption page thinking she was there now but she wasn’t, so we called and asked for an update on her, and mind you the people on the phone are always rude and have an attitude, but anyways they said she “didn’t pass the adoption test” or whatever and refused to say why, or explain what that means and tell us what would happen to her next, so to this day I don’t know if she’s alive or not and that’s heartbreaking, these people are evil, if I would’ve known this would happen my mom would’ve drove the extra miles to go to the humane shelter instead, maybe they would’ve been a better choice..?

We went in to adopt an additional cat for our family, even did the meet and greet and introduced it to my 4 year old. Was told we couldn’t have him because my husband mentioned taking him outside. It seems they are not that concerned with getting the animals adopted. This process should be made easy to make sure the animals get a loving home, regardless of the other pets in home. After reading other reviews it appears they had rather just euthanize. Did I mention they put my husbands name on a list to make sure he couldn’t adopt again. Sad

This place Is euthanizing all surrendered animals automatically as soon as they're brought in they're taken to the back and they're being put down it is sad. And this is not false. I didn't insert myself into a conversation at all. You were just going to euthanize an amazing animal and I told him I would take her instead. You were completely rude because I was going to let the dog live!!! I mean that is ridiculous do you enjoy putting them down!!? This is the beautiful girl you were just going to kill!!

I recently went through the adoption service at FCAS and it was wonderful. The facility was clean, the animals were healthy and well taken care of. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Everything was well organized and my email correspondence I had with them was quick and extremely helpful. Highly recommend!
