New building is awesome. Took our kids to an adoption fair just to see some animals and everyone was very nice. Facility is very clean. We had a great experience adopting our cat here in 2019. Would definitely recommend adopting through them and whenever the time comes again for us, we will!
Staff was very unenthusiastic helping us which should have been my first sign that this adoption/application was going fail. We came on the weekend during viewing hours, I came with my husband and son who is almost 3. My son has been around, cats dogs chickens, cows etc and he's always been gentle and good with animals. We picked a kitty that was a little older and already fixed. We all loved him and felt like he was a good fit. I go home and fill out the application and 3-4 days later find out that our son is too young and they don't feel comfortable with us adopting. Ok fair. Why didn't anyone stop us initially and tell us this? Why not tell us this before going into the kitten room? This is why I feel like there was an awkwardness while we were there.. I feel like the employees knew they were going to deny us but didn't have the courage to tell us in person. This isn't the first time your facility has done something like this before either, and that's on me for not checking your reviews and seeing that you discriminate against families with young children.
This community was not helpful. I wasted time and was given false hope to help my kittens and cats. Moving forward , being straight forward with no run around is a great resource.
My husband and I adopted our fur baby from AARF in June 2020. He has been such a joy in our lives. He’s silly, sweet, loving, gentle, and keeps things fun and spontaneous for our older cat. We are so grateful AARF chose us! We couldn’t imagine life without him. AARF was easy to work with and Bugsy’s (formerly Oreo) foster was very kind during the process.
We got our puppy from AARF back in December, but I realize I never left a review! The AARF will always hold a special place in our hearts as they gave us our fur baby, Willy Nelson! We found the litter online with pet-finder, filled out an application and decided to go for the drop in visit. All the staff and volunteers were so wonderful. We actually stayed much longer than expected, visiting with the litter's mother [Maybelline], the other dogs who were waiting to be homed and speaking with the all fosters/workers. They were all so kind and honest, we really felt like we were making the right decision. They asked us a lot of questions as well, but this makes the most sense, of course, as they need to place the pups in suiting homes. Joyce who was our main person of contact was so helpful throughout the entire process. She told us everything we needed to know and do, and let us know that we could call her any time for any concerns we may have had. Willy came with a voucher to be neutered, many toys from his foster mama and was fully crate trained at 9 weeks old - he has never pooped in our house, not even once! Haha Our baby boy [big baby boy now lol - 8 months old] is so loved and he wouldn't have been apart of our family if it wasn't for the AARF! They say you can't buy happiness, but you sure can adopt it ;)
AARF gave me my best friend and second fur baby! We adopted her about a year and a half ago when she was about 6 weeks old. Her foster mom was amazing and cared for her so well (she even cried a little when I took the dog home). From my experience AARF was an amazing animal rescue and I couldn't be more thankful to them. They gave the pups all the medical care, food, love, and attention they needed until they could find their forever homes.
