When I first moved to Lansing and I had nowhere to go I went here and had a place to eat, hear the Word, bathe and sleep comfortably through the night. I appreciate this place so much it really is a God send. Praise Jesus Christ.

Ignore a lot of the bad reviews. They ask you to help with basic things like stacking chairs, and only if you're not physically disabled. They helped me with issues with my ID so I could get into the shelter. Very compassionate and loving. Also a place for a hot meal even if you don't need shelter.

when you have no place to go(homeless) you can get a hot meal, hot shower, & a comfortable bed to sleep in. It's clean, they help people with finding apartments, their thrift store will give you clothes once a month free of charge. Bed, meal, shower. all free of charge. They have rules that must be followed. is the only thing they ask.

The City Rescue Mission of Lansing is habitually shoving Christian scriptures upon those who are in the most unfortunate of circumstances, and who, out of necessity, end up having stay at their facility. I personally think it both hypocritical and down right cruel, when they kick someone out in the coldest of winter. All the while proclaiming "Jesus Saves" from a sign in the shape of a cross hanging from the front of their building. Christianity has as principal commandments LOVE. Jesus Christ said "Upon these two laws rest ALL the laws, and the prophets. That you LOVE the Lord, your God, with all your being. And the second is in keeping with the first, LOVE your neighbor as yourself." I personally have been denied services of a warm place to shower and lay my head for the night, while the night held a forecast of a freezing 25F degrees. The reason was because, I blew a .025 on the breathalyzer they keep ever so close when processing people in each night. Mind you, I wasn't acting belligerent, or disruptive, I wasn't even raising my voice. My only "wrong" doing was having a little bit of alcohol earlier that day. Another man I know personally was thrown out also for failing the breathalyzer test. However, this man would become a victim of frostbite which ultimately led to the amputation of ALL TEN (10) of his toes. Let me close this review on this note. The City Rescue Mission of Lansing has been a great blessing to me at times, for those days, I thank God Himself. But, I am very angry with those who are quick to become judgemental, and those that talk the talk but, aren't walking the walk. We ALL are need of kindness and understanding. And no one wants to be looked down upon in judgement by anyone. LOVE, by definition, is willing for another, as the other. AND THAT IS JUST A GOLDEN RULE. ❤️

9/20 Mark Chriss is a liar, he said your faith statement does not make you discriminate WHEN YOU ABSOLUTELY DO. Lansing city councel is finally onto you terrible people and all the discrimination you commit, you were the topic of conversation on Monday. Again, if there is a hell I will see you there. 6/28 You can respond to me in public under this comment if you want, no privacy for you. Turning down service for lgbq+ and forcing people to participate in prayer even when they have a medical condition and need to lie down. If there's a hell I will see you there. I think you need to Google "charity", you aren't saving people's souls, you're extorting their soul for a meal and bed. Scroll down and you'll see one review say getting religion stuffed down your throat is the price for a bed. There shouldn't be a price if it is true charity, if you were real Christians. Or ARE you just following the Christian god's,, and your true colors is similar to a cult?
