... still editing. Will finish later. But read my review of the Okemos Walmart in the meantime. Folks. I recommend pitching a tent in the woods rather than staying at City Rescue Mission on S. Cedar St. Christian-based? Who? Not these employees. They did everything imaginable to hinder a healthy and productive path for me to self-sufficiency to the level of abject hate and malice. That their efforts reached the level of criminality, however, needs addressing. To begin with, they hoarded my mail from Social Security, and probably had no intentions of handing it over until I called Social Security who informed me they had, in fact, mailed out 2 letters. Secondly, At least one employee opened a package of mine my father sent me for my birthday...I mean the last I checked there are FEDERAL LAWS AGAINST TAMPERING WITH FOLKS MAIL.. But the final demonstration of anything BUT CHRISTIAN-based was when I had to order and pay for my own birth certificate because the case manager (Tiari) had no intentions of helping me. By the 3rd wild goose chase she orchestrated I finally stop dealing with her and ordered my birth certificate myself. I was subsequently barred again from City Rescue Mission so I had to call to pickup my mail. Unfortunately, Linda and Cheryl Hall claimed no package from UPS arrived when, in fact, it had been delivered with a confirmation email and signed receipt by "Hall". I told them, I received a confirmation email from UPS that my package arrived on the December 14, and was received by Hall. (Sheryl Hall) . Linda still continued to insist the email was fake and nobody by that last name worked at City Rescue Mission! Seriously? Linda. I have no doubt the state of Michigan will do everything possible to find a comfortable mat for your bunk at the state penitentiary. That's where liars on your scale end up. But there's more...

Our team from MEI volunteered last night! It was a great experience and so thankful for a place like this for the community! They do so much and it’s a great organization! We met so many great women and children yesterday! The people that work here are doing great things!

My first couple weeks wasn't bad, but because I had a job I got moved to a work dorm. That was when things went down hill and quickly. I started getting harassed and threatened by 2 of the other individuals in the room, because I snore. They also treated me like I was 2 when I am old enough to be their parent. When this was all brought to staffs attention they stated that there was nothing they could do because the beds were all full. They couldn't even switch me with anyone else. They said that I was completely safe. These girls threatened to beat me up, throw hard objects at me, and dump water on me. They can't keep the residents safe. I packed up my things and left. One of the girls had been kicked out nermours times for the same thing.

EDIT: How to do better? Stop forcing people to obey your religion. Simple. This organization discriminates against gay and disabled folk, I'm a caretaker for one such person and can say for a fact the people working at this organization have done real harm. You force you religion onto the most desparate. Mark Chriss even admitted your first goal is spreading the word of "God", does that mean helping these people is only your second priority? Isnt that the definition of taking advantage of a population? Fake Christians who lie to themselves to feel good about themselves. If there is a hell, I'll see you there.

This place is a dump, the workers are rude, disrespectful, and the building is rotting into the ground beneath it! NO security to deal with the violence! I've personally seen men beaten bloody before in this place with no help till the cops showed up! They want another million dollars to remodel that dump too!

Great place if you are in need of shelter. Safe place to be. They provide meals, showers, and laundry to their guests in addition to a place to lay their heads at night. Free for guests. Consider volunteering your time or donating to help them help others in need.
