Feral Furbiscuits is a wonderful organization and the mighty feline warriors who founded and run it, Karolina and Meme, are truly special, one-of-a-kind, generous people. Our experience with them began last May, when we found four tiny kittens abandoned by their mother, whose eyes hadn't opened yet, in the back yard of our building. They were crying piteously and we were terrified they would die. We called every cat organization we knew and encountered everything from feeble attempts to help to accusations that we had committed some sort of wrong trying to save these babies. Then, by some miracle, we happened upon the number for Feral Furbiscuits (FFB). Meme responded to every call and text and Karolina, the president and founder of the organization, came to us all the way from Philadelphia, where she was working at the time, at 11:30 at night, to help get the tiny kittens the help they needed. Not only did Karolina take the little guys and try to feed them all night herself, but when she didn't have success, she also drove them in to the ASPCA Saturday morning when they opened and dropped them off at their neo-natal unit with specialized nursing machines. I don't think I need to explain the kind of character and selflessness required to do this sort of work day in and day out. FFB is constantly saving kittens and cats in need, whether feral cats in a Jackson Heights colony or a deli cat trapped in a property seized by the city. Our neighborhood is blessed to have this organization to help the many cats in need, whom other larger, wealthier organizations refuse to help because our community is viewed as not affluent enough to pay for their services. FFB does not care: they put the animals first and their money where their mouth is. So please, if you've had a great experience with FFB, post about it here.
