I have been taking my dogs to Hammond for years. Natalie at the front desk is amazing. I always want her to answer the phone when I call. Dr. Johnson is the best. She truly cares and was wonderful when we had to put our senior dog down. There is no vet better!

Great experience every time I have a dog treated! Very caring and thorough staff. Short wait time. Clean clinic. Friendly Dr! Can definitely see that they love what they do and work hard to accommodate even my silliest requests.

$65 exam fee for the vet to take 5 minutes with my dog out of my sight, so I don't even know what all was looked at, when I was coming in for a full exam and to establish care. She kept trying to move out the door when I had additional concerns I wanted to discuss with her. In her own words as a response to my initial review, I should have never even bothered to make an appointment with her. I told both the front desk assistant when I was making the appointment over the phone, and the vet tech, that I was there to discuss non-pill options for allergy treatment and to establish care and review the general health of my dog. At no point prior to my appointment or even until I kept asking questions, was I informed that I had no reason to even be there. ETA: I'm adjusting my review to one star because I don't think this matter was best hashed out in the review section of a Google business listing. I think that if they wanted to discuss how I felt, it should have been a phone call. I do believe this is very unprofessional behavior and not indicative of somewhere I want to bring my animals to. I did Dr Johnson the courtesy of not naming any names, and even allowing for for it being a potentially off day, but I did want to leave a review with how much I I feel like Dr Johnson took more time to write that reply, then she took with me. I explained both to the vet tech, and Dr Johnson, that because my arm is currently in a sling due to shoulder surgery, I was hoping there was another approach I could take to addressing what I think was my dog's allergies which started a few weeks ago and I was currently dosing her twice a day with OTC antihistamines. The antihistamines seem to be working, but dosing was a difficult task given she is 52 lb of deaf, one-eyed pure muscle, and I only have one arm to work with. I was surprised when Dr Johnson came into the room to just prescribe medication that I would still have to dose to my dog twice a day. It would end up being a miscommunication between the her and the vet tech because it was a game of telephone. I explained why I was there to the vet tech, the vet tech turned around and explained why I was there to the doctor, and then she used that information to make a decision and dispense medication without actually discussing it with me. When she came into the room, she was talking very rapidly, and I had a to prompt with a couple of questions to get her to slow down and actually hear me regarding concerns I had about potential side effects of what she was suggesting and with having to still dose twice a day. It was in slowing her down that we were able to figure out that what I was doing was fine, there was nothing more for her to do for me at this time, and there was a misunderstanding at some point. If I hadn't persisted with asking questions which Dr Johnson did not seem inclined to listen to or answer, I would have walked out of there with both an exam fee and medication I didn't need. I suppose I should count myself lucky that I've gotten better at advocating when something seems off because I did only have to pay an exam fee thanks to my own efforts. I went through a lot of difficulty with poor medication management that ended up significantly hurting to of my pets with my previous veterinarian, so part of why I was coming in was because of what I think are allergies new to one of my dogs, to see if there was a better way to treat it than what I was doing (a vet tech friend of mine advised that steroid shots would be an option and I would have to see a vet for that), and also to kind of establish care for my animals (I have two dogs and one cat) at a different vet. Given her response her, I will not be going back at all.

I took my dog Piper there when she was sick, they were very caring, love their staff. I found them when my son worked for them. They even called me a few days later to check on her and make sure she was getting better.
