Spent 700 for blood work with no answers, everything mentioned was brushed off in lieu of more charges. They are not an institution based off helping your animal. They are a money making business. My poor dog 💔 Responding to below: You sir are correct, you most definitely are a business. Completely understandable that you will pay more for after hours care. However, your place is the first "business" in any industry that has asked me t o pay more up front than what is initially quoted, and if that is not used it will be refunded. Let me explain, it is visually apparent when walking into your clinic, that you will receive NO treatment with out upfront payment. Thus, what could be the premise for the upfront over payment policy? On top of that I was told my dog was aggressive for the first time in his 8 1/2 years. Giving you the benefit of the doubt and not wanting to jump to conclusions, I thought it was very possible in his condition, he could be irritable and act out. Shortly after seeing another vet, and undergoing more extensive testing than the blood draw, I was told I had a perfect dog. Their words not mine. Makes me lean towards he was not handled with respect at your business. After speaking with your front desk attendant, with politeness, inquiring about departure due to our long stay, she said "cool". My dogs problem has been identified immediately elsewhere. Thank goodness ❤️
Our boy, Garry, wouldn’t be here today without Oklahoma Veterinary Specialists. On Tuesday night, our Great Dane developed bloat and subsequently a twisted stomach - which can be fatal if not treated quickly enough. We called our local vet and they told us that we needed to get them to OVS as soon as possible as they thought the same thing that we did. We had him in the door and they had done an x-ray right away and had confirmed our fears. Know that, when you come here, they are going to tell you how much it’s going to cost and it’s not cheap. It is an emergency vet. Anything that you have done on a routine basis is always less expensive. Within 30 minutes of walking in the door they had already taken Garry back and started sedation for his surgery. We had several staff members come out and update us while he was in surgery. They untwisted his stomach, and tacked it back down, so hopefully this won’t happen again. They kept him overnight, and he did well, and we got to take him home the next day. When we came to him the next day, they refunded us a significant amount of the money that we paid upfront, which was, not only impressive but also a blessing. Please remember when you read these reviews that an emergency vet is just that and it’s going to be significantly more expensive to take care of your baby because they are there at the times that your vet can’t be. We are so thankful for Oklahoma veterinary specialists.
Dr. Jennifer Schultz and the entire staff at OVS provided wonderful care to not only our dog but us as owners as well. We were greeted immediately and our dog’s needs were urgently assessed. Our 5 year old frenchie experienced his first IVDD flare which ended up being a ruptured disc. Thankfully OVS was able to complete all the needed diagnostic testing (CT) and surgery same day. They throughly went over the plan from intake to discharge and Dr. Schultz reached out multiple times before and after surgery with her findings and updates. They welcomed calls and visits checking in at anytime and not once seemed “bothered”. I am thankful that our vet referred us to OVS and our Watson is back up on all 4!
Dr Nestor and his staff are amazing I’m so thankful for them. They helped us with our Great Pyrenees. They found answers and continue to be amazing, they have stayed in touch with me throughout everything and stay on top of our needs. I can’t say enough amazing things about how much they truly care.I won’t go anywhere else.I trust them they are here to help and they do a fantastic job. Thank you for always being amazing. My Great Pyrenees is doing great now ❤️
My dog tore his ACL and had to have surgery and I was so stressed! They ended up having a cancellation and he was able to get in for his surgery within 4 days of the tear. His surgeon was Dr. Duell and he was amazing!! I will definitely be recommending Dr. Duell and his team to friends and family - they made sure to explain the surgery to me and walk me through everything before they took him back for surgery and called to let me know when he was being prepped and when he was out of surgery. I also called before bed and in the morning for updates on how he was doing and they were happy to let me know!
Can not say enough good things about this place, and the people. One of our babies has had some recent health scares requiring multiple visits. Dr. Nestor, Anna, Sam, (just to name a few) and everyone at the reception desk have been absolutely wonderful. We have also used OVS in years past for dermatology services and surgery. Worth the drive for us. Top notch care, always.
