Going to the rescue mission was the WORST experience of my life. For it to be a human services facility you are not treated like a human. Because one of the many unprofessional staff members had a personal attitude one night I was locked out for the WHOLE night with my pajamas on. The bed I was assigned to was pulled for seven days and all my stuff packed and supposedly put into lock up storage because I was 15 minutes late coming out of the dorm. Mind you we have to be out of the dorms by 7am Monday-Sunday which makes NO sense on the weekends because EVERYTHING business related is closed on the weekends. The food is terrible. It has to be below the health department standards.. Anyway I had to get out of there. It wasn’t good for my mental or my physical health. Anyway when I sent someone to pick up my things that were supposed to be in the storage lockup (Staff is supposed to unlock it at certain times in the evening and WATCH while the clients get their things) Almost EVERYTHING I had in there was GONE. I am devastated. That shouldn’t have happened at all. That was ALL I had. I have reached out to the mission to NO AVAIL. No one is telling me anything about the status of my things that they locked up. I’m extremely upset. I’m trying to figure out who are the powers that be so SOMEONE will be held accountable for the loss of my things. I’m also looking to see if there’s anything that can be done legally. I wouldn’t advise anyone to go to the rescue mission if they are in a position of homelessness. Sleeping on the streets would be a better option than going to the mission of Syracuse NY.

I am living at the Rescue mission shelter. A sad place to see. My situation is not the same as the pain I see in those that live there. Many have no direction for there life no plan and have no one that want them to have that direction or plan. Mostly because they say those are not worth it. I never thought I would be homeless but when the building management company would not make financial arrangements when I ran into trouble and my family isn't interested in my welfare this is where I am. So I guess we might be cautious when we think that those people down there just have nothing to offer this world you never know where you will be in a year. One prescription, one pill, One injury, one failed relationship one lose or one of many life tragedies and your life can change FAST and then were.?!?!?! The people who work here need a hand if you can help call them. If you don't want to give of yourself the give them something. They work hard and some days go though quite a bit and keep coming back that takes special people There has been so many complaints about homeless people and why they are homeless and how the people that help them do not help.. There is not enough people helping and the ones that are helping are so restricted in the ways that they a re allowed to help that there is no possible way that they could help everyone. The need is to large and people are too many. It will take the entire city to stop homelessness. And the stigma of homelessness.. people never do not cause this problem for themselves the community does and the community needs to fix it and stop ignoring what it has done

Where does all the donation money go? It certainly does not go to the meal program or to helping the clients in general. They get multi-millions in donations every year, on top of the money and state give them....yet they offer no real services to clients besides a cot and a case manager that is really just there for show.
