It's insane to me that this "humane animal society" offers pet training and even pet care, but does not actually offer adoptions and refuses to be around a pit bull, calling them "dogs known for aggressive behavior" on their website. "That's not our job, we're unable to do that. Talk to the city, not us." Make that make sense to me because, doctor, my head hurts. This is not helpful whatsoever.
The goal of the Arlington Humane Society is to promote responsible pet ownership and the humane treatment of all animals through community education. They do that well
Very helpful. I'm looking for a small, small, tiny dog. There's a lot of dogs for adoption but not the type I'm looking for a very tiny dog.
I called this place sometime ago to see if anyone could help my husband with a dog and her two puppies that were abandoned in a car that was parked in a parking lot not too far from where he worked. The older gentleman that answered the phone asked me what breed they were and when I told him that they were pitbulls he pretty much called them monsters and he said that he would NEVER let such a dangerous animal on his property. Thankfully with the the city's help the city was able to free the dogs and they were given the care that they needed. I understand now that this establishment doesn't take in strays and that's fine but the way that it was explained to me on the phone was done in a very ugly matter.. I gave this place a one star rating because the customer service here is terrible. I personally feel the one star rating is being pretty generous because if I could give this place a lower rating then I would.
If I could give less stars then I would. Called them on a Friday about 4 sick kittens I had found to see if they could take them. They called me back the next day and told me to bring them Monday morning. I get there and then the old man running the place said “We don’t take cats here so I don’t know what you want” so as I ask for clarification on why they told me to come if they don’t take cats. He gets extremely rude and basically calls me a liar and to leave. I don’t know what they’re doing but it doesn’t sound like a humane society to me. Will never go there again. Just editing for your comment. That’s not what happened at all. You guys called us back and that’s a fact! Otherwise I wouldn’t have drove 40 minutes up there with kittens. Don’t try to make yourself look good just cause you got a bad review. I even called the number back that called us and the old rude man I spoke to was the one who answered. Same guy probably replying to everyone
NO, people it is NOT THE Humane Society of the US. No one ever said it was. It's a low cost vaccination/spay/neuter clinic. And that's all they purport to be. There are several low cost animal clinics across the DFW area ... NONE of them take unwanted pets, NONE of them operate as rescues, NONE of them are shelters, NONE of them are full-service veterinary clinics. Their purpose in asking for and using the donations is to provide low cost vaccination and alteration surgeries for animals in order to help control the pet population and help those who cannot afford high cost veterinarians for these minor services. Do you people go to Burger King to grocery shop??? You can't get your groceries from a fast food place and you can't surrender lost/found animals at a spay/neuter clinic. It's pretty simple if you use your brains. This place does what it says it does. Period. And most of these places have a small staff and are very busy every day. It's hard for them to get to the phone, but if their services are what you are interested in, then keep trying. Please do your part and spay/neuter your cats and dogs!
