Description Tails of the City provides a safe, large off-leash play area for your pup's daycare needs. We are staffed 24/7 for your overnight boarding needs, so you can rest easy knowing that your dog is being well taken care of. There are also large playthings for them to romp in on and around, K9 Ballistics couches and other cozy areas for relaxing and napping, and plenty of laps to crawl into for a scratch behind the ears. Want to pamper your pooch with some extras? We offer neighborhood walks, extra special treats, and more! We don’t charge extra for meal feedings (unless it is our house food) or administering medication. Basically, we’re a doggy daycare dream.
Brought my dog here for a 30 min intro and both myself & my dog can be nervous in new spaces. They took their time and let my dog warm up to the new people/places/smells amazingly! Loved the knowledge of the staff to working with dogs of all needs. Excited to have a daycare spot in the city for my pup!
My boyfriend and I have been customers for a couple years now. Over the last few months we decided not to use the daycare and Boarding services anymore. The environment seems very tense, mismanaged, and literally smells bad. If reviews were based on grooming, it would be 5 stars, because we absolutely love Parker. We will continue to see Parker for grooming services but the atmosphere of the daycare seems to have gotten worse as of late. The employees seem overburdened, our dog is unhappy after daycare, and our most recent visit we overheard employees yelling at dogs. While we were waiting they brought out a wet dog and when the owner asked why the dog was wet, they were told that their dog was naughty and was squirt with a water bottle. The dog was DRENCHED! This speaks very poorly to the management and ownership of this business.
This place is great! I was skeptical at first of putting my pup at an all indoor boarding place but Tails of the City does a top notch job. I was really impressed with their behavioral evaluation ensuring your dog will be a good fit. Their booking system is very convenient and they always respond quickly and have gone above and beyond to accommodate my schedule. I love getting updated with the report card every night on my pup especially when he’s there for longer stays. So lucky to have them in the neighborhood!
Posting on behalf of a friend, "I took my rescue dog a few months after adoption. We quickly realized how severe his separation anxiety was and I wanted a way for him to be safe while I worked. We had a few, of what I thought were successful visits, and then it quickly turned. It's been almost a year since a severe incident that lead to my dog being blacklisted. When the incident occurred, I wasn't given much information. There are no cameras. I wasn't allowed to speak to the handler that was in the room. When I asked questions for clarity to learn how to prevent the incident from reoccurring, I was returned with what sounded like over the phone, an annoyed teenager that didn't know anything and was frustrated with me wanting to know more. I've taken my dog to two reactive training classes, medication, and two private trainers. I found a daycare willing to accept him, and turned out the handler that witnessed the incident was now working for a new daycare. They were able to tell me the full story. I now understand that a group play environment created a lot of stress for my dog. I also only now understand how severe the incident was. I was told my dog was playing rowdy with one dog that matched his energy, and a 3rd dog snapped, and my dog overreacted to the snapping. I now know that wasn't the case, and it was 100% my dog who overreacted to innocent dogs. To the owners of the other dogs, and especially the dogs themselves, I'm so sorry for the damage my dog did. I had no idea how severe it was. I wish I could have offered to help pay for expenses but I wasn't given the opportunity. I am so sorry your dogs have to experience that trauma on behalf of my dog. To Tails of the City, your handlers are underpaid, understaffed, and overwhelmed. Cameras would be an opportunity for training and clarity for what could have been recognized as severe environmental anxiety. The behaviors he has in an enclosed group play are vastly different from what I've experienced in an open-field group play. You are doing dogs and clients a disservice by not being transparent, communicating effectively, and managing the energy levels of the environment. This incident could have been prevented had someone recognized and communicated the level of anxiety my dog was exhibiting."
The FUN places for dogs. Karyn and her team of loving dog experts offer 24/7 safe, professional, doggy care for your pups to play all day and night. I like the Capitol Hill central location, it’s been easy to schedule online and drop off for overnight boarding and doggy daycare. This is actually their second location and I was going to the Georgetown tails of the city just for days when I went to the office, it’s great my trusted doggy daycare is now offering overnight boarding closer to where I live. Highly recommend. Sadie tested, Sara approved.
We've had a great experience with doggy daycare there.
