I believe that they were not truthful in saying they had no space to take a found dog. All the pens were empty, even taking into consideration how many dogs were out walking. The person stating to advertise on Facebook was not supportive and it was quite offensive to have that as our plan of action and not to help us find another location to take the puppy to. The blonde young person helping us, thank you for your kind approach, even if I didn't believe your words. We just let the dog back outside where it was found. Maybe the next person will have better luck.
We found a dog that was in terrible heath. I called before the shelter was technically open and they sent someone out within ten minutes to get the sweet boy. The officer was very nice and gentle with him. I asked if they would euthanize him and the officer said that they will get him in good health and then adopt him out. We also adopted a dog from here 9 years ago and had a great experience.
If you have any issues with any animal or animal owner don’t expect to be taken seriously. They make every kind of excuse as to why dogs should just be left alone to damage things, run around neighbors with no collars, bark excessively, and just be a menace to people around them. Anytime I have ever had any issues and called animal control I have been treated like I’m the problem for not wanting aggressive animals running amuck. I have had to call them approx. 30 times (no exaggeration, I wish I was kidding) alone on one issue in my neighborhood on excessive barking and howling and it took that many times for them to even get off their lazy behind to even come up to my door and talk to me face to face. I visibly watched them just sit in their little trucks and not even get out to “asses” a dog barking and howling for hours on end. Every single officer that works for animal control is LAZY and DOES NOT want to do any kind of work with dogs that are a menace to a neighborhood. Good luck getting anywhere with these people. They’re all a joke.
We came in to take a look at adopting a dog. We left w a BECKETT. From the first wag of his tail we knew we found our missing piece. The staff was absolutely wonderful ... Best way to end a rainy FRIDAY... Thank you all for all you do.
If I could leave 0 stars I would. This place is awful. I found an abandoned dog on the side of the road with no leash and brought her here thinking they would help. The second I walked inside the ladies at the front yelled “is that your dog? put it on a leash” and pointed to a leash by the door. Then when I told them I found her on my way home from Carteret they said they couldn’t do anything. I was 18 minutes away from my house IN JACKSONVILLE. I was just COMING home from carteret. I stood outside trying to figure out what to do and they called four cops to come arrest me for abandonment and trespassing. Then laughed at me while I was in tears trying to figure out how to help this poor dog. The officer that came to my rescue did help me a lot by telling me to go to Pet smart and see if the dog was chipped, which is something this shelter easily could’ve did. The shelter stood outside, laughed and mocked me. Disgusting. I wouldn’t take my dog here if it was the last place on the planet. Update: they called every shelter in our area and now no one will take this sweet dog :( Final update!!: Took her back today and told them to check her chip and guess what? ONSLOW COUNTY!! 🤣🤣
Most incompetent failures and no clue how to do their jobs and want to act like law enforcement. They don’t have to come up with any proof to mess with peoples lives just make up things and steal others animals and murder them when it’s too much for them to correct issues. Then botch up the warrants and make complete fools of themselves in a court room to the point where they are told by the DA to please get off the stand. They over compensate when they fail and attack anyone and everyone when they get caught. Once they lose the case they then start harassing people to try and trying to use fear tactics and hanging around people’s homes. Real law enforcement needs to take a stand against these frauds and put them in handcuffs.
