I love this place, all of the vets are lovely. The Medical Director Dr. Geldert is awesome, super kind and personable. The front office staff is very nice and attentive. They've been really good to my pup. I definitely feel like each vet and vet tech has been super empathetic to whatever my pup was going through. I feel 100% comfortable entrusting them with my dog, and that's saying A LOT coming from me I promise. Also, I feel their prices are fair.

My cat Pickles is now healthy and happy due to the care that she receives here. She had severe stomach issues for years and none of her previous vets offered an explanation but were happy to run expensive tests and treat her symptoms with expensive medications. Within five minutes of our first appt at SF Pet Hospital the doctor asked if she ever was diagnosed with IBS and of course I said no. The vet gave us some meds and Pickles has been healthy and stable ever since. She’s even gained all her weight back! I’m very happy with the care my cat has received here and would highly recommend them to any pet owner.

If you love your pet I do not recommend that you establish care here. I have a kitten whom I took in to have a wellness exam and I paid for a fecal test , it came back negative. Went home Doja started to experience bloody diarrhea. Took her back for another fecal exam which I had to pay for again and this time she tested positive for Giardia. When she tested positive I was told via email by the sweet Dr Gabby, that someone would follow up with me when the medication was available for pickup. I waited two weeks no call or email so I called the Sf Pet Hospital and explained that I was waiting for the medication, the receptionist was extremely rude, told me that the medication was ready the day of diagnosis and then hung up in my face. They failed to follow up with me then I received the WORST customer support ever! Lack of transparency on bills!

I was prompted by my vet that my cat (3.5 yrs.old) was due for her annual physical. Flash forward to the appointment day/time. I took the time off from work I would need. Scooped the cat up, contained her in her carrier, drove to the vet, found parking, etc. The actuall "annual wellness check" consisted of the Vet, or Vet Tech, simply weighing her, then saying, "she looks healthy." Bill for a 5 min. "wellness check": $85 I wrote them once I was back home and had received their emailed bill, advising of my experience, stating I meant no disrespect, but really felt that if that was all they were going to do for an annual visit, I would prefer they only contact me when/if she needs a vaccination or booster. I received a "flat" reply that I would be notified - but there was no reference to my compliant, nor was the email signed. I responded to that email advising I would not be returning there with my cat, and requested my cat's medical records - which I must say, were sent promptly. Again there was no acknowledgement of my complaint. No apology. No concern that I was dissatisfied with the care my pet had received. I've been going to this vet hospital for 25 years, but management and staff have changed in the past 3-4 years. Historically, annual visits consisted of weighing, checking her heart, checking eyes, ears, feeling her abdomen, and lifting her tail for a look at her "hindquarters", taking her temp., etc. I've since spoken with multiple other vets, as well a the SPCA and was able to confirm they did not do the job they were paid for.

Edit: this was our long term vet care, but I can no longer recommend this practice. You can see my original review below. Over time it got harder and harder to be seen in a timely manner, which I understand. Busy practice. I’m a nurse and worked at a pediatric office for 7 years- I understand how medical offices run. My kitty was coming to the end- she had been sick a long time. So I made an appointment on Saturday to say goodbye. I was off on my timing by a day. On Friday morning, she was suffering, I called as the office opened hoping to be seen but was refused. I begged. He was so cold about it- “Go to the ER.” No compassion. No help. He did not even offer a phone number, or the name of where I should go. I started calling home euthanasia places but no one was available. I finally took her to a pet ER in the Sunset. She was so sick they would not allow me in the room with her. She died frightened with strangers. And the icing on the cake? On the car ride home with my empty carrier, SF Pet Hospital called. Their schedule was super light and would I like to move my Saturday appointment to this afternoon? If you value your pet- don’t go here. They will take thousands of dollars, break your heart, and your dog or kitty will suffer. Two stars. I would give one star but as a courtesy to the wonderful care I received before the practice changed hands, I will leave two. Photo of my Molly- who deserved love and compassion (and so did I). Original review: I have been coming to SF Pet Hospital since we moved to the neighborhood 17 years ago. 5 furr babies later (4 cats, and a senior dog)- having gone through emergency needs, chronic illness, end of life care, and everything in between I can say this practice is the very best.

I had a little flea emergency and was able to make an appointment online within 3 days. I arrived 20 minutes early and was promptly seen. The vet was informative, practical, understanding and efficient. The rest of the personnel was kind, welcoming and on top of it. My very first appointment took a total of 45 minutes and only cost $210 for a heartworm test, visit fee, flea prescription and two vaccines. I’m very grateful and impressed with my experience. Thanks to the team at SF Pet Hospital.
