Description The mission of Animal Ark is to inspire environmental stewardship through wildlife education. Since 1981, Animal Ark has provided a safe haven for injured, abandoned and otherwise non-releasable wildlife. Animal Ark is located north of Reno on thirty-eight acres and primarily features native North American predators, though a few exotic species have found a home there.

We toured the Ark while out north of Reno. We were given a very informative tour by their Director of Educational Outreach and we learned a few things about the species, how they came to be rescued by the facility, etc. The enclosures are spacious and provide good ways to get up to the animals while providing space for them to get privacy if they want. The grounds are up the slope of the valley so there are good vantages to see everything. A great gift shop and everyone working there is very friendly. If you are in the area (a bit off the beaten path) please visit as it is nice, informative and they are doing important work!
Such a nice place to visit when in Reno. It’s probably better to go in the morning while the animals are out before the sun gets too hot but we still had a great time. And what great staff they have there. They were all very helpful and friendly and more than ready to answer any questions we had and help us enjoy our time there. I would highly recommend paying them a visit the next time you are in the area and looking for something fun and different to do.
Animal Ark is a hidden gem that offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature and learn about the importance of wildlife conservation. It's family friendly. They have light food and drinks available at the gift shop along with a dozen or so vendors. Our little one really enjoyed it. There isn't much shade on the trail so bring water, sunscreen and hat.
We rented a golf cart and it made it so much more enjoyable since we went when the sun was at its burning point haha. We got to watch the tiger enjoy his meal! The grizzly was walking around and saying hi. The raccoons were out and about being super cute. I wish the animals had more shade like the leopard had.
We went on a Tuesday, it was not crowded. The animals were keeping to the shady areas of their enclosures as would be expected, but we got a good view of most of them. The park is clean and animals seem well cared for.
Had an amazing experience, volunteers were really friendly and helpful. We saw almost all the animals which was mentioned in the guide map. Great experience seeing tigresses but missing lion/lioness. We went after 12pm but still had a really good time but for better experience i would suggest going early morning. We are also planning to go again but next time we will definitely visit early in the morning.😅
