Description The Humane Society of Greater Dayton is the area's largest no-kill animal welfare agency. We specialize in adoptions, spay/neuter services and protecting animals through cruelty/neglect investigations. We are the only shelter in the Miami Valley caring for all types of animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, farm animals, exotics and more! Our organization is a single-entity 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We are not affiliated with any other organization on a regional, state or national level. All money we receive through donations stays in our community to help our people and pets! We are a BBB Eclipse Integrity winner, a 4-star Charity Navigator nonprofit agency and a Platinum Guidestar Charity, which is the highest ranking you can get.

We adopted a one year old Newfoundland lab mix, Hammer from this shelter back in 2018, the adoption process was fairly easy going-we were able to play with him in a room pretty quickly, put him on hold for 24 hours to think about it, and take him home the next day. Unfortunately we lost him last month to cancer but I am so grateful we found him here 6 years ago when searching for a campion. Haven’t been back since we adopted him but planning on returning when we are ready
Yesterday we adopted a kitten from the Humane Society. Our experience was fantastic. The staff was kind, attentive, and enthusiastic about our adoption. The adoption process was easy. Our new little guy is happy and was obviously well cared for during his time in the shelter. Update... He's been with us for over a year and is a big guy now.
I had an inquiry and got an instant call back Jackie was exceptional in explaining services and pricing. I will be a returning customer for any veterinary needs, and will be recommending for anybody searching for affordable pet health. Thank you Jackie and the humane society for lifting this weight off of my chest !!!
So far, my partner & I have adopted 3 cats from this shelter. One female back in 2020 & two males just now (December 2022). The employees & veterinarians are very friendly, kind, and helpful people, they really seem to love what they do. The shelter is clean and all the animals healthy & well looked after. I totally recommend adopting and/or donating to this facility. Also, to add, we're planning to switch veterinarians to this facility for all four of our cats' regular checkups and all other health needs.
Working with the animals is always going to be a difficult job. But these individuals seem to do well with maintaining the facility as well as helping the animals as best they can. The only negative is they seem to never answer their phone.
Wonderful experience with the staff. Everyone was patient and caring of the animals. We adopted a sweet kitty! George was his adoptive name, but we renamed him Cody. 💙
