Description The Humane Society of Pinellas is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has been caring for animals and our community since 1949. Not just an adoption agency, the Humane Society of Pinellas provides life-saving care and services to help keep pets and people together.
I am so upset I spent half the day crying, I had been fostering these kittens that were left at my shop for 2 weeks waking up every 2 hours to feed these sweet neonatal kittens. I took them in to get help because one of them started losing weight and I was worried I tried to take them to an emergency vet and was denied, I took them in the morning, when I walked in they judged how I looked being young and “inexperienced”. Ive worked at a pet store for years and have all the means to take care of them except medicine as I am not a vet. All of the kittens were doing better each day except one, they take them back there to get looked at and then decided I was unfit to keep them. They did not even give me a chance and they were rude, almost belittling me. They said I should have brought them in sooner even though I tried to reach out to all the numbers I was given and no one answered since it was the middle of the night. They said they would be giving them to another foster who’s more experienced and give them medicine, of course they will get better with that “more experienced” foster since they will have the medicine to make them better. I regret ever asking the humane society for help, I will go somewhere else from now on with kittens since they just want to use people to get the kittens through the hard stages of life and then adopt them out. I got attached to 1 of the kittens particularly and who knows if I will ever see him again because they said I was not capable of taking care of them when I did for 2 weeks they are only 13 days old, gaining weight and eating 12 ml every 2-3 hours sometimes more only one wasn’t which is why I took them in and I get told I was basically killing them. When I first got them dropped off in a milk crate they were severely underweight covered in fleas and crusty. After I looked after them they no longer had fleas, they were all gaining weight, they were clean and happy kittens. One of them just got a little sick, from the reviews I’ve read they adopt out sick kittens anyways, I hope since they now have my kittens they don’t kill them or adopt them out being sick. Do not go here, they’re rude and they will use you and make you feel bad for it. Please take your sick animals else where they do not care about you or your pets. I wish I had my kittens and wish I knew they would get the help they need.
Even though they are under construction they are still doing what's best for the animals in their care. We adopted a sweet female dog. Couldn't be happier.
My son and I were checking to see if we could find our cat Mischief. We just had to sign in that we were there and then Andrew took us to where they had the cats. Unfortunately they didn't have ours. He did give us a list of all the local shelters and recommended going to the Pinellas County Animal Services where they take in all the animals. They are under construction at this time so they didn't have very many. He and the several other people there we spoke with were very nice. He even knew someone that volunteers there that is a family member. I thought that was nice.
I adopted Waldo four years ago, 3 days after I had to put my 18-year-old cat down. I live in Buffalo so this poor baby had to come to the condo then fly home to Buffalo. He was the best at traveling. The people who helped me were amazing. I would go nowhere else praise to you who take care of the creatures. If I could give you a 100 out of 100 I would
Helped me find my best friend Hodari, were very happy to answer any questions I had and continued to reach out to check in and see if I needed anything. Can't thank them enough for what they do!
Im a foster fail and super happy about it! Maggie has been a great welcome to the family! Eveyone is wonderful and always have the best interest of the dog or cat in mind.
