Unfortunately I have to give at least one star to rate this place. FULL DISCLOSURE TO THOSE QUARANTINING THEIR DOG HERE: 1. You can quarantine your animal at your home, at this facility, AND ALSO a veterinary clinic of your choice (you will be responsible for their boarding costs). 2. You CAN visit your dog at any time. This won’t be told to you at any time and you may not think you can due to the word “quarantine”. If you do choose to board here, CHECK ON YOUR DOG DAILY IN PERSON ( EVEN IF YOU LEFT HIM IN THEIR CARE IN HEALTHY CONDITION). No one will let you know if your dog becomes ill until you have no choice to put him down. 3. What is not disclosed along with the other two statements listed above. If your dog dies while in quarantine at this facility, it will not be disclosed to you that your dog will be decapitated for his head to be sent to LSU to be tested for rabies ( IT DOESNT MATTER IF HE IS VACCINATED). My healthy dog was left in the care of this facility for five full days and at 8 am of day six we received a call that our dog “wasn’t doing good”. He had dog pee and shit all over his paws that was caked on (staff said it was from the transport vehicle on the ride to the vet clinic). He had bloody saliva pooling from his mouth. He had dried vomit all over his ears, face, and neck. And a fever of 104 degrees. His struggled and labored breathing was both visible and audible. He had developed an infection from choking on his own vomit repeatedly for days and no one called. We had to put our otherwise healthy dog down and we were unable to give him the burial he deserved, due to his missing head. The staff denies all accountability and has not only met us with push back, blame on our end, terrible attitudes, but lying outright about what occurred in those five days.

Having donated food to this place, they seem pretty ungrateful and unwilling to help bring in even the heaviest of items. Their excuse was that they didn’t have anyone to help. Meanwhile there were 3 people at their front desk just standing (and sitting) around. Seemed like they just didn’t want to help. I’ll save my time and money to find a more appreciative organization to donate to.

We adopted our sweet dog from the shelter. It's incredibly clean and well maintained as are the animals! We have a young dog and they gave him all his puppy shots and he was fixed. The cost is $35 to adopt an animal in good health! Go adopt your new friend today!!

Low cost, high quality pet adoptions include spay/neuter, shots AND microchip: $35 for dogs, $24 for cats -- FREE for VETERANS and anyone OVER 65 (In 2024)!! A couple of times per year all FEES WAIVED to Empty the Cages. Big, new, beautiful facilities, on-par with LA-SPCA in New Orleans, and very clean. Special covered areas where you can spend quality time with a potential new family member. Some staff also foster the pets at home and can tell you all the details about all the amazing characteristics of her/him. So, they care even more about the animals. I heard there is a 2-week trial period so, when interested, you can see see what happens in your own home. JUST AMAZING!

I transported 3 dogs from another parish shelter to be spayed and neutered. I couldn't believe how nice this facility is!! And the faculty is equally as wonderful! And the best part was the short wait time!

My dog was picked up on bogus vicious report. No evidence was but a picture of my dog being loose. Tried to say he was aggressive at shelter while in cage but after i debunked that reason I was told I'm right and dog wouldn't be deemed vicious. Had to find another location for my dog due to trailer park rules. Told them I'll be back in 2 days. My mom couldn't take him so had to find someone else. Took longer than 2 days but never was told I had a time limit. My son moved out and got an apartment so he could get our dog. Called last Friday to let them know he was coming but was told my dog was put down already. Reason was because the never heard hack from me and they deemed him vicious. I was never notified about time limit or that they changed back to being vicious after saying he wasn't 2 times. Of course i had a pit bull. Basically was killed for nothing because he never attacked anyone so was picked up on false report and since they couldn't be more caring about the situation they decided not to follow up with me about if I was still finding a new home or to even notify me that it's getting close to last days to where we can still hold him. And if he was deemed vicious why I didn't get notification so i could have a choice to appeal or not. Thank Ms. Shelly and animal shelter for taking what was a family member away from us.
