Description Desert Tails is a 7000-square-foot, no-kill shelter in Scottsdale, Arizona – but we also partner with rescues in neighboring states to help facilitate transport and care from high-kill zones to no-kill partner rescues. (Due to limited capacity and resources, we unfortunately cannot accept owner surrenders.) We save dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments. Many of the dogs we rescue have been abandoned and left to die and/or are at high risk of euthanasia, including pregnant mamas, newborn pups, and dogs that have never been shown love before. We’re here to change that. Volunteers and donations are always needed. Desert Tails Shelter is a registered 501(c)(3) charity. EIN 83-1089653.

The amazing team at Desert Tails Shelter helps dogs find the loving homes they deserve. Doing what ever is necessary without hesitation, they spring into action like the super heroes they are!! My Bonnie became a member of their “Gotcha Club” when I adopted my sweet girl about 3 years ago. Please visit Desert Tails today and consider adopting a homeless dog. Thank you will never be enough! I adopted Dixie from Desert Tails last year and it has single-handedly been the best decision of my life. Desert Tails was incredibly accommodating and easy to work with, even for me when I flew in last minute from Omaha, NE to get her. Their records were meticulous and the transition was seamless. I forever owe them for bringing the biggest blessing to my life.

My family and I adopted our boy Monkey here in 2022. As a former dog rescue manager in another state, I cannot say enough about the wonderful people at Desert Tails! The work that they do is amazing and you can tell that they truly are in it to help the animals. The dogs are all well taken care of and are so loved. The follow ups with our boy and the care given with his medical issues have been above what is expected and we are so grateful to have found this rescue. From experience, I can say that I trust adopting from them and I know that every penny from my donations go to the care of the dogs. Thank you for making our family complete.

A wonderful "no kill" local shelter, caring for all fur babies waiting to be rescued. Happy Tails ending for us: We are so blessed to have found our new rescue girl Java home where she belongs! Meeting Rachel from DTS who showed us pics/video of the furbabies available @ Desert Tails Shelter rescued from Texas border area- I just fell in "puppy love" seeing Java! Her quirky personality, bouncy and adventurous personality and fluffy wuffy tail we had to meet/greet her. We visited the clean/active/busy facility greeting with barks, tail wags and wiggle butts. - her energy/bouncy and cute smiles just fit her new name like lots of coffee- aka Java Girl. Meeting her sister Angel (current dog) both dogs sniffed/discussed and our hearts were SOLD! We knew the family fit was perfect! We have her current shot/vet records and health reports to share with our local vet. 2 months later our girl is living the life of love/fun and family. Java and Angel get along so well, and she makes friends with all she meets. We would definitely rescue again from DTS. They are organized, clean, community, and caring for their animal care and cautious about potential family placement. YES! rescue/adopt- don't shop! Thank you Adama and Rachel for doing what you do for community! Java says "hello" Thank you!

Desert Tails changed our life! We lost our Shar Pei just a month before we adopted Moose from them. The adoption process was easy and he is the best boy we could ever ask for. One day when we get him a friend we will likely find that friend at Desert Tails.

Adopted the LOML from Desert Tails! Gus was born to be our dog! He has been the BEST addition to our family! All the lovely humans at Desert Tails go above and beyond when it comes to adoption and dogs in general! If youre looking to adopt (and honestly after that election… YOU NEED A DOG) Desert Tails is THE place! Pictured is Gus with his sister/bestfriend Kiwi <3
