Description "Providing adoption and stray holding for Fresno City Pets. Come meet your next best friend."
Refused to take the dogs we found on the street since the location was "outside their jurisdiction" or something. This was after we called prior to, and was told to drive the dogs to the shelter. NONE of the numbers they provided had space either and the advice we received was to not help street dogs or just contact social media for help. One of the city lines told us to rerelease them back in the field we found them. Luckily we were able to give them to the police and they said they would get them to a shelter. The actual shelters (this one included) did little to nothing to assist.
After all the rain a little dog showed up at the parking lot of my workplace. We fed it and felt bad for it since it kept having to deal with being out in the cold. I called numerous animal shelters and all of them turned me away because they were all at max capacity. Luckily, my coworker found a loving home willing to take the dog in. The hard part was catching him. You could tell he had been on the streets for a while from how smart he was. He knew not to get too close, wouldn't fall for any traps, etc. Thankfully, I decided to call Fresno Animal Center again and told them about our unique situation. That we only needed help CATCHING the dog, and then afterward give him to us to house. After two weeks of their nice employee Rudy coming out and setting up a trap were we able to get the dog. His new family has named him Jack, and he now has brothers. This all wouldn't have been possible if it weren't for the Fresno Animal Center willing to help us with our unique request!
I came in Monday and wanted to adopt a kitten but it hadn't been there long enough so I went back today Friday. That kitten was unadoptable and was with the vet so maybe issues. I'm fostering another kitten for a couple weeks, to see how she does. I love this idea. Right now adoption is free because they have an overabundance of kitties. Everyone was very helpful the place seemed very clean.
I have called this place 3x to try to get them to remove a dead dog that has been on the corner by my house for a week. Nobody answers the phone, and instead they forward me to some Fresno 311 number or Fresno app. I have left requests with them 3 times. The dog is still there. It is starting to become a public health threat, rotting in the sun.
We adopted our rootbeer 2 weeks ago and we absolutely love her! The staff is so awesome and sweet very informative I highly recommend and everything is free which is so convenient cuz adoption prices are outrageous!!
If I could give zero stars I would. After finding a puppy on the side of the road with huge ticks in his ears, I brought the puppy here hoping they would be willing to help. I was turned away and their solution was to dump the puppy back where I found him. So are they encouraging us to illegally dump animals and potentially get fined? Before arriving at this shelter, I went to another shelter who advised me to bring the puppy here. The employees there even warned me how this place would turn me away and told me “they aren’t doing their job, stand your guard, and don’t let them tell you they can’t take in the stray.” Furthermore, some employees here are straight out rude and clearly do NOT enjoy working here. I understand the overwhelming amount of strays and animals has made things become stressful. However, I was told before that they have to take in puppies or injured animals? It seems as if some of them do not even have the compassion nor care for the weak animals that clearly need help. I wanted to be a Good Samaritan however, today, I felt that my efforts to help are hopeless and I’ve slowly become discouraged to help.
