Description "Cat Rescue: domestic . feral . seniors . special needs from high-kill shelters. FPRG is a no-kill rescue, all volunteer, 501(c)(3) non profit since 1999. Adoptions are by APPOINTMENT ONLY! call 559.412.7226, or email us: info@feralpawsrescuegroup.org"
Other reviews say it is hard to contact. Please keep in mind this is a non-profit ran by a very sweet lady. The amount of work and time it takes to keep track of everything plus provide for the cats is a lot!! Be patient, and you can always try to go in person. Please don’t give up hope for the sweet sweet cats in there. So many of them love people and want a home, and this rescue provides you with all their medical history, and a cat that is already chipped, litter trained, friendly, and loving. Every time you adopt a cat here, it open up room for another cat to be saved from being put down in shelters. Please be patient and support this rescue!
They are a no kill shelter. It's not as good as having a home and a family but lots better than the alternative. My dog had the great idea to volunteer at a cat shelter, which I thought was really sweet thing for a dog to want to do that. so we did it. We volunteered to haul cat food for the shelter.
Some reviews do say it is hard to contact, and I do agree it is. After calls and e-mails not answered I drove to the address and made a appointment in person. I did end up adopting a cat, she quite noticeably chose me by rubbing up on me and swatting at any other cat that came near me. She is my best friend, and so affectionate and clingy. I was given all her health background papers, as well as a collar, and it was free so that was amazing. I do encourage you if you can to donate and adopt older cats too! I know it’s frustrating as we expect the attention that well funded shelters give, but this shelter is worth it!
I sent a few emails to try and set up a visit, and also called several times to just be told by the automated system that the voicemail box is full. I’m not sure how else to try and contact them as it’s been several weeks since I inquired. I would happily change my review if I got some clarification and/or other more relevant contact information that would help me make an appointment and see if a couple of cats would be a good fit.
According to their own response to this review they are “too busy” to adopt out cats or respond to adopters so you should look elsewhere. After trying to contact this rescue for 8 weeks with no response from online submission forms/emails/calls to a full mailbox/texts, I decided to report them to ASPCA/Humane Service to get a welfare check on the cats in their possession. After several weeks Humane Services called to tell me that the rescue was operating & that the cats are ok (no further explanation). Now the voice mailbox works again but still no response to any online contact attempts after 10 weeks. Multiple people I know who also reached out numerous times never got any response either. I gave up on trying to adopt a cat because I never got a single response despite trying every method they listed as a contact option.
Paula and her mom were so friendly and helpful. To get in contact with Paula, email her. I got to choose from about 50 cats. She took me into the enclosed fenced off area. I had one cat following me around and wanting me to pet him. Then she let me be alone with the cats. I called my husband in to see if this black and white cat would warm up to him too. The cat I liked also started to follow my husband also. Paula had a typed medical history about the cat and a microchip tag. It turned to be an excellent experience. My cat has worked out well. He is very friendly and is not aggressive with my other three cats.
