I've adopted 4 pets from ASL and had a great experience each time. They do all the can to make sure the pets go to a good & safe home. All of the pets we adopted from them were very healthy & up to date on vaccinations. They're a no kill shelter. I highly recommend ASL and their kind staff. Attached are photos and Neptune & Phantom.

I was very happy with Animal Service League and their adoption process. Andrea responded timely to all emails and to my application. The entire process from submitting my application to taking my cat home was about 3 weeks. They schedule appointments to meet or adopt the cats on Saturdays as it’s all volunteer run. I didn’t mind this at all because it also shows me how thorough they are to ensure their cats are adopted into a great and safe home! If you truly want to adopt a cat for the right reasons, I don’t feel anyone should have a problem with their process and should actually appreciate how thorough they are. They really care about their cats! Also, Andrea texted me some cute photos (see photo) during the adoption process so I could see my buddy which I felt was above and beyond! Everyone was friendly while I visited to find my perfect fit and they encouraged me to spend time with several cats. I loved the phone consultation they also provide as part of the adoption process. I grew up with cats but it had been a long time since I cared for one and on my own. The phone consult was very detailed and covered common topics to make me feel prepared and ready to bring my new family fur-member home. Also, they micro-chip all their cats and set up your account for you—how easy?! When I picked him up, we left with an adoption blanket and a week’s worth of his food to transition him. Everyone was kind and lined up to say goodbye, showing how much they care about each cat there. They make it clear they want to keep a connection with adopters and are there as a resource should you need any advice or help. Overall, I was extremely pleased with the process and highly recommend adopting through ASL. Thanks Andrea and everyone at ASL!

Our experience with Andrea and her staff was great! I admit when looking for our new cat I wanted it right away, but her facility does not work that way. There is a small process because she cares more about the placement then just handing them off. My gratitude for all of the hard work they do! The short wait is definitely worth it. Thank you!!!!!!!

I adopted Bowie, Django and Tori from ASL. They take great care of the cats and the rooms are so clean! Fast response time to inquiries, and very pleasant folks to deal with. Andrea was great and took the time to talk to me at length after hours. No other shelter returned my inquiries for adoption except ASL, so I am going there tomorrow to adopt another cat. Yay! Not sure why all the negative reviews. If you were turned down for adopting, the shelter was doing what was best for the cats. They are looking out for the cat's best interest--not yours. They really do care about finding the best homes for these forever friends, and I really appreciate that. Update 4/12/23: Since my last review of ASL, we adopted Nigel and Jon Snow from them.

I’m posting to inform others of my wonderful experience with ASL. I was slightly hesitant to work with them after reading some horrible reviews on this site. My experience was quite the opposite, and I have major respect for ASL, the wonderful facility, the volunteers and most of all the care they provide for their cats. If you are hoping to walk into a shelter and adopt a cat right away, this is not the place for you. Both Andrea (the president) and Amy (the vice president) do a very thorough job of screening/interviewing who to adopt their kitties to. You will have to fill out and application and have vet references checked before even going to visit. Once you get there, you will spend some time visiting cats in their various rooms, moving from one room to the next (without being able to go back). This gives you a chance to connect with the cats, a bonding process. If you end up choosing one you would like to adopt, there will be a phone info session (mine was 2.5 hours long) the following week. I consider myself an experienced cat owner, but still learned from some of the info Amy told me. All in all, this was a 3 week process before we came home with our new fur baby. Please give ASL a chance. They have so many wonderful kitties there that need homes. It is a lengthy process, but 100% worth it. Their policies may not be for everyone, but they certainly worked for us.

I had a great experience with Animal Service League! The people there very clearly care about what's best for the animals and provided me with a lot of great information. When I went to visit the shelter, it was very clean and spacious and I was able to take home my two new kittens within a week and a half of putting in an adoption application. Please don't be dissuaded by the negative reviews, they all seem to be those whose applications were denied for understandable reasons.
