From the first time I had gone to the humane society I was treated really well by the staff and volunteers. It was a super easy and fun process to get to meet with the animal(s) you want to visit and possibly adopt. The rates are very affordable and sometimes the rates are waved or lowered to help clear the shelters! So check the website to see if they are lowering the adoption fee before you go in. The amount of choices of animals to choose from is plentiful! I adopted my dog on August 13th 2024 from them and the process was super fast and easy! Before I knew it, I was walking out with my "new" (3 year old) dog Sasha and a big smile! I have had no regrets with my choice of pet or any with the humane society! Excellent service and super nice and friendly staff and volunteers! I DEFINITELY and highly recommend stopping by if you are interested in adopting a new pet whether it's a cat or dog. You won't be disappointed! As a matter of fact I will most likely be going back to adopt another dog soon. Also my sister has adopted a cat from there and the two are inseparable! She too has nothing but good words about them! I hope that this helps you make up your mind and that you find your furever pet(s) from the humane society of Sarasota County!
Staff were always friendly and it’s always neat and clean. Love the little store area where I can grab my new pet’s items or bring something new for a pet already at home. My dog needed a friend so I came here looking for a kitten just for her and found my little Willow (kitten) who fit right into our family! Adoption process was easy and, loved that I had staff there to answer all my questions as I was looking for new family member. Highly recommended.
Great place to get a wonderful pet. Got a kitty here whom I totally adore. They make sure pets have all the vaccinations and necessary medical treatment before they leave the facility. They let you go into a private room with a potential cat to see if you bond with it before you adopt it. You are limited to 3 cats per day to visit with. I'm so happy because my kitty is litter box trained, has a healthy appetite, and is totally affectionate and sweet as can be. He's also bonding well with my other kitty. Bring a cat cage or pay $7 for a cardboard one provided by them.
The area was very clean, and the cages for the animals cleaned. There appeared to be rooms set up for cats to associate with other cats and separate rooms for dogs. A number of dogs for adoption seemed to be larger dogs. It's clear that the management was doing an excellent job maintaining the animals and the surroundings. Just a few pics of cats & dogs up for adoption.
Chris the practice manager has been incompetent in his position. This new facility is loaded with grant and donation( I’ve donated ) money, yet they can’t help me who rescued a kitten out of a someone’s car engine in summer. I went in with my first rescue and ended up having to go to another vet after multiple errors and terrible care at this office. This cost me way more than if I brought this cute survivor kitty to a legitimate vet in the first place. Do not bring rescues here, or pay for any service.
I think it is wonderful place. I met my Very Best Friend There and now I have a lifetime of unconditional Love...❤ Her name is Roo... She was well trained when I got her. Well Mannered, she loves other animals, all other animals. She is Very Sweet..
